Nice colour andy, dunno if it's been covered but did u have the cage teched b4 paint? As they won't pass it unless they see bare welds.

Yeh peeps have asked me before. The guy who checked mine helped me build it. He happens to be my dad lol. He's done a few local drift rigs too. So yeh no real dramas there but cheers for the q.

Ash - there's no real downtime needed when u polish a booth painted job as it comes out after a period of drying. If you were doing home job in acrylic I'd prob give it a couple of days before u cut it.

yeh man if you were gunna mock up a booth spend the money and get a good mask. an id be taping the crap up out of the wall seals and stuff. Not sure how successful it would be, but if you have a reverse vacuum make a hole somewhere and poke it in to take all the air out of it before you paint the seal it. EVERYTHING settles on the job if you dont do it, even particles u cant see.

On my car u can physically see the difference in clarity between our job on the engine bay (not a huge issue as it wont see the daylight as much just needs a polish) and the outside that has just been done. We knew this would be the case so only did the parts at home that werent to be scrutinised as much to get the cost down.

thanks mate, you dont neccessarily need a clear coat for a 2pak paintjob; 2pak has a clearcoating resin in it already so its not really required, unlike acryilic where u need one to seal the topcoat. But the paint is called 'glasurit'. Its a brand that mercedes benz use from germany.

Sorry - I missed where you said you used 2K How easy does that make life? Ive used 2K a few times.. cheat a little and on the last coat put extra clear with it to bring out the gloss. I love the glasurit paint, fantastic brand. This will look killer in person.

How long till you start peiceing it back together?

Yeh mate ive still got a little bit of work to do on straightening the rest of the panels, as theyre not quite ready yet. bonnet and boot are ready to go, just gotta run over the doors again an check their good. The painters want a decent amount of stuff to do all at once so they dont have to fire up the booth a few times; keeps the cost down for me. Soon as the cars home next ill be starting to put it back together, starting with the wiring and all the usual jazz.

An yeh i can guarantee you it looks epic in person

at the time I hadnt finished blocking the front doors, im sortof getting stuff done bits at a time with the painters to get it done cheaper. so like im doing all the prep work then I send the panels down when i finish em. hopefully end of this week all the panels (bar the bonnet which needs a fair bit more smoothing work) will be all back on the car
