they won't pass the 19's, don't know about the rear wiper though

They mainly check the following:
Ball Joints
Brakes
Oil Leaks
Tyres
Ride Height
Lights
Demister

If its not N/A your you'll need a permit for BOV/FMIC etc

handbrake... they park it on a hill put it in drive with the hand brake on if it moves forward bad news... then they do it in neutral and reverse something easily fixed but they will make u spend another 54 dollars and come back another day

Just make sure all things are working fine as well light your lights Horn, Windscreen wipers man and make sure that your washers work to clean the screen.

Also make sure your heater works ie blows hot air onto the screen because they check that

about it really good luck man

With regard to tacho and gauges above dash, im told the police have an 11 metre rule. If a rock was placed on the road 11 metres away from the car, then u should have a clear view of it....i.e. stretching across the whole dash at that distance.

Man... it depends on who u get.... they didnt check my spare tyre at all, didn't even pop the boot....

oil leaks, tint, ride height etc.....

tacho they will go u for..... they got me for the drivers armrest being loose, and also the sunvisor being too loose, and my front springs not being captive....

Just depends on who u get on the day, and what mood they are in...

As for rims, you can get 19's on a permit, again depending on who u get.... get a new holden tyre placard, as thats what they go on... I put a VS placard on mine, which said 235/45/17 as std and he wrote that on the permit. I also got permits for BOV, cooler, piping, bodykit, walky scoop hole, steering wheel, etc.....

Insist you want permits... they will tell u that you dont need em, but say you want them coz the cops keep hasseling you...

The rule is that they get you to sit in the car and check if you can see the item 11metres away, and then they sit in the car and check if they can see it.

Also I found out that boot mounted Surge tanks are legal if you get them checked and then get a permit for it. Extra fuel pumps i dont think need permits.

And just some extra info.... cops arent ever allowed to confiscate your licence when they pull you over you officially dont lose it or have to hand it in until you pay your fines/go to court etc

Thanks Steve. I Probably didnt word it right. What you said is what i meant....i.e that you have to sit in the car and see the rock....not see the dash clearly from where the rock is. Thanks again.

mate the best thing to do is put some stockies on with hubcaps and go down with your mum, they will be so much more lenient on you if the old girl is there

so that might of helped

I also borrowed Ols wheels for the day stockers and it gave them back after it passed

Mechanic's wife took my VS over... passed with broken washer bottle, thumb tacked roof lining, full ash trays & non cancelling indicators... thats after spending a g with them fixing **** like power steering tubes and mufflers :/

One thing that was interesting though is they actually measured the ride height and it was only legal by 3mm... Mechanic reckons i was lucky...
