It's a bugger the trans is playing up dude.

and to think if we had a drag strip we wouldn't be bothering with rwkw.

500kw in a toyota crown? how do u even keep it in a straight line on the street hehe. Has gotta be a 8 sec car in the making. also some other big numbers i see there.

Itís not quite that heavy actually Jake. With me in it and ready to run itís 1500kg.

The last time I ran it at WSID it had a good 60rwkw less than it has now (extra grunt due to new valve-springs a bit more boost and more timing) and was trapping 140mph-on the rev limiter for the last 150-200ft or so. The 10.2 ET was a bit slow for the mph as I wasnít trying to stall it up on the line. As a result the 60fts were 1.8-1.9 sec, which is about .4 off what it should do launching with boost. The reason I havenít got that sorted yet is just lack of track time. You are correct that a transbrake would be ideal, but at the minute there isnít one available for the Supra auto, and Iím trying to stick with a Toyota trans for as long as I can.

Assuming I get it to launch properly and go 1.60 or so for the 60ft, the HP it has now should net (in theory-ha ha) about 9.4-9.5, and with the 100hp of gas on, low 9. Given VLs are running in the mid-low nines with similar HP, weight and rubber Iím hoping to do the same. (although it may no seem like it-VLs are a good source of tech ideas for me)

However, with so little track time itís hard to do the development required.

And as for the street driven question-nope, sheís strictly a trailer queen these days. I retired this car from street duties to make it ANDRA compliant just before AIR shut (doh!). Because the motor is so mild, I can (and do very occasionally) drive it on the road, but itís just not worth the risk-and without slicks and a prepped strip there is no way in hell to get the power down.

Trailering it to dyno comps might seem a bit extreme, but itís an opportunity to get it out of the shed and have some fun with it while we have no track to use.

Thanks for letting me join in at your Dyno Day boys.

Sean

PS-Darren, 150mph at Summer Slam? Dunno, but the numbers do look promising. With an extra 100hp at the tyres due to the NOS and the new heavy duty lock-up clutch in the converter I reckon itís a chance. (I gotta fit that chute first though). Are you thinking of running the 31 there? Even if you donít run on the Saturday during the event due to the ANDRA presence (I guarantee youíll go under 11.00), there will be a non ANDRA T&T the day beforeÖÖ?????

having a play around with a calculator. i would estimate the engine making close to 800hp. have put the weight in at 3300lbs and with adding the 100hp nos it spat out a 8.98 151mph.

Now that would be a perfect type run but it seems it could go close. And like you have said lack of track time will be the main factor in setting it up right. I myself been trying to work out how to build revs up without spinning the wheels half way down the track lol. Other day was playing with handbrake trying to get boost up and ended up with a 100m burnout lol.

PS: to get to the 800hp i added around 20% due to drivetrain loss.

http://www.sportcompact.net.au/round2.php

Summer slam at heatcote will be the best for the cars that most of us are
interested in..I would like to go Sean, but with christmas and gearbox saga number 543(every car i have ever owned has gearbox trouble, i am going to cut a hole in the floor flintstone styles next or direct drive like a speed boat )

But i am aiming to go to this one, slicks and front runners at the test'n'tune
and then run in the Street RWD class on sat and try run into the 10's in 100 percent street trim....see what happens i guess .

Sean- anything into the 9's would be a great achievment with the gearbox you have and the fact it's a home build, low 9's would be awesome!
Are you planning to use the nitrous like a trans break? You biggest problem
like Vl's and all the untubbed rotors is that with the small slicks you are actually starting to wheelspin down the whole track with that mph, especially
with the torque your motor makes.
cheers
darren

Man i'm surprised anyone organises anything on this forum. After all the time and effort platinum (Gav) put into organising this dyno day theres only been a couple of people to thank him for his efforts. Now i know i'm a bit of an old prick (29) and therefore have old prick values but how's about a bit of recognition for a job well done. It's not too much to ask is it.
