FWIW, I also changed the colour of my clock at the same time.. I couldn't find any decent cellophane so I cut out a cover from a cheap DVD Case.. worked fine :-)

I done this (the rewire) and it didn't work at all. Even my oil pressure doesn't work like it did before. I done exactly what was on that picture showing the wire and the solder on each tab of the fuel gauge so beats me what happened

Faulty Oil Pressure Gauges

By the sounds of it, everybody is getting in and dismantling there dash. and then some people are experiencing problems with there oil pressure gauge. In reference to my previous reply (page 1) check that the bolt on the back is being down up properly. Doesn't hurt to double check. Thanks Boris

just went for a cruise in the VL

when the light comes on, i just give the fuel guage a little tap from the glass and it gets contact inside the dash so it reads how much is left!

this works if ur a lazy prick and dont want to remove the cluster out to properly fix this problem... LOL!

ill do it soon... one day... just adding it to my "VL needs this" list!

Same here Ben. Done the fix on my Calais and Berlina and everything works a treat except the oil gauge doesnt work on either of the dashes. Not overly fussed as at least now I wont run out of fuel.

Cheers

yeah running out of fuel whilst taking someone for a drive is a bit embarrasing

Hey mate sounds like your fuel sender unit has had it. Get it replaced, its located where the internal fuel pump is in the fuel tank.

thanks guys for all your positive feedback. From all your responses it seems that this is the main problem with VL gauges. Mine is still perfect and never drops to zero and is very accurate. There cant be many VLs out there with accurate fuel gauges.

somehow I dont think that the main battery harness will affect the fuel gauge at all.

i did this fix 2 months ago and it fixed my gauge, been working ever since perfectly, but one question.

I got a shift light connected to my wires behind the dash and ever since i did this mod it doesnt work no more?

i checked all the connections and they were fine? could it b the tacho wire?
