Are they ever going to put that F'ucked Law in?
No P-Platers can Drive V8's, Supercharged Cars or Turbo Cars.
It won't make any sense though. Say if some dude has a 5.0L in a heavy a'ss car like Stato for example they cant even drive it. BS man.
Hope this law never comes in. We will all be f'ucked

aslong as most P platers dont be overly stupid on the road then you should be fine...but there are deffinately some ****head cops who just love to mess with us P Platers

it will be interesting to see what happens with this as vic roads have told me on a few occasions that it will effect every P plater.
i have rang numerous times, spoken to higher people and it seems that even if you own and currently drive a turbo, supercharged or V8 you wont be able to drive it from this date.

as i said, be interesting to find out what comes of it

you all have nothing to worry about.
no one is going to enforce it.
police have bigger problems to worry about than a few hundred p platers with cars that are slightly over the power to weight or capacity to weight ratios.
unless you give them a reason to enforce the rules, they wont be hunting u until u f*** up.

their inforcing it because so many accidents these days are involving p platers and they want everyone to behave and lower the risk of accidents. witch is absolute shyt cos people wil stil wana drive thier cars fast and get silly somtimes, taking away turbos and high power cars is just gona pis everyone off rather than save lives .

And from all the money steve bracks has from fines etc why dont they teach us how to drive better so p-platers who do wont to have these cars can learn how to handle the power etc at the end of the day you can have a serious accident in any car and cause damage to yourself and others if not kill you or others however the chances of this would be increased in a high powered car that is why better driving teaching needs to be taught to people of the ages 16 17 18-25

boys P platers have brought this law on them selvs only a few years back a p plater took a car load of girls for a drive in his v8 commodore, 2 0f the girls died and on was fckd up, so before you all get pissed off grab the nearest p plater to you and snap him one in the head, as he could have been one of the blokes who made this law come in

Yeah, that's completely fair. Punish those who haven't got their P plates yet, while those who have caused the law to be introduced get off scot-free.

well said and spot on

and perhaps instead of attacking and blaming the govt, politicians and the general public SOME P Platers need to take some responsibility themselves particularly re their own driving skills. Remember it's what you do with your car that can lead you into trouble.

It's too late to change your attitude to driving when you're sitting in prison after killing your friends or other innocent people

i do feel sorry for the P platers as im not saying there all bad, its the handfull that make it tuff on the rest, but somthing must be done, to many young people die on our roads, i have been involved 1st hand with a young bloke who rolled his car into a tree in altona, xmas eve a few years back, 3 young guys, wizzed past me at stupid speeds, and i watched it roll in slow motion, i stoped, and called ambos ect, and have my first aid, that was useless, and i will tell you this! holdin a young bloke together, and trying to asure him all will be ok and trying to get him to not look at hes friends who were both passed away, to see him die 2 mins later will haunt me for the rest of my life i still have nightmares. so im for anything that helps stop road deaths. this new law may not be the way but i guess they have to try somthing!

so Remember anyone who reads this, when you jump in your car tonight with mates or a car load of ladys, you are the one that decides if they live or die! so be smart and be safe

From 1 July 2007, new laws will be introduced for holders of a probationary licence, restricting them from driving a high powered vehicle.

A driver who obtains their probationary licence from 1 July 2007 will not be able to drive a vehicle that has:

* eight or more cylinders; (ie. VL V8, VN SS, VY SS, Gemini with a V8)
* a turbocharged or supercharged engine (ie. VLT,Skyline,Silvia,Supra, Holden VT L67) (except diesel powered ie. Toyota Landcruisers);
* an engine that has been modified to increase the vehicle’s performance (ie. VY V6 Executive with 200rwkw ); or
* is a nominated high performance six cylinder car.
Thats my take on the law, that will be reaming all the new P'Platers. What i have found out is for all you people about to hit 18 You can use these turbo cars for your daily dose fix..

* Suzuki Cappucino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 cylinder 689cc, and
* Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible 4 cylinder 659 cc.

Quote:
Penalties
From 1 July 2007, the penalty for driving a high powered vehicle will be three demerit points and a maximum fine of approximately $1100. These penalties will apply to both the current power to weight restrictions and the new high powered vehicles restrictions.
