P Plate Restricted vehicles list

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/...B0019D1F0?open

This is the link to the page containing the VicRoads list link and other relevant information

It's not exhaustive because of the sheer number of makes and models of cars that have been produced over the years.

Remember that the list is for Victoria only

Chiows - 302 and 351 XD falcon sedans, 308 or 350 HQs (apart from GTS) or a 351W XT all break the 3.5L per tonne rule, and they're old cars. Plenty of older cars with V8's are HP vehicles.

As for it only being a small fine, that's not the point. Try writing off your car and three others in a high powered vehicle only to have the police arrive and tell you that because you're driving an illegal vehicle you're up on big charges - and your insurance company tell you they won't pay out because you were breaking the law. It's a bigger issue than just $110 every time you get pulled over.

As he said, and to clarify, if you do happen to be in an accident and someone dies you will go to jail for manslaughter.

Some powerful cars that you can still drive on your P's include MY99 WRX Automatic (Manual is too light, Auto is just under.) I had one before it died. VT SS Series 1 (I believe the best power and power to weight of any Holden V8 you can drive.) My brother just got one. XC 302 V8's (XA and XB are just too light on the capacity rule, but the XC can be driven in a 302.) The beauty of being able to drive an XC 302 is that the 302 and 351 engines use the exact same block, and only the internals differ. This means a car can be registered as a 302 and use a Cleveland engine anywhere up like 408 cubic inches and be fine. I'm currently looking at an XC with a 380 stroker.

One possible way around these laws I haven't looked into properly is changing your vehicle details to list a higher GVM. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/...256FD300241C06
I'm not sure if this new weight would be used or if the original tare/kerb weight would still be used.

For people who are still of the opinion it's only a small fine, my friend rear-ended an early 90's BMW convertible in his VR Senator 215i. He had full comp insurance (which had cost him $2400 with Just Cars) and when he attempted to make a claim they told him he couldn't have the $20,000 agreed value for his car or the $15,000 or so that the owner of the BMW wanted (both cars were written off.) TAC still covered the owner of the BMW for his medical stuff because they have to, but my friend had to extend his finance (which he still owed $8,000 on in principle alone) and now a few months afterwards owes about $35k plus interest. Granted it's rare something like this would happen, and my friend is one unlucky mother****er, but it can and does happen and when it does it's bad news.

If you mean a 5.0L manual Berlina, then I think the weight is 1440kg in which case the 165kw it has is less than the 180kw you're allowed, and the 4.982 litres is less than the 5.04 you're allowed. The Exec is too light I think. That being said, if VicRoads put a different TARE on your rego sticker you'll still get fines and coppers won't care how much it weighs, but you'd still be able to argue with an insurance company in court.

My mate got a VX commodore, and his a fu{king moron in it it, drive all my friends around doesnt watch the road.

we counted how many seconds his eyes were off the road to do something on his sh!t stereo we got 15 second eyes off the road, went into oncoming traffic and just missed.

Is it Illegal for him (on his P's) to drive a VX Executive?

How can i get him off the road before he kills my mates? (without me havbeing to slash his tyres)

Im sick of reading this every week.

Just because your car meets power to weight and engine capacity to weight DOES NOT MEAN YOU can drive it on your Ps! Vicroads do have a list (which you can request via thier website, as i have it) that details every make and model which you cannot drive.
All commodores are in there with V8s (except some 253's), VLTs, etc!
I was allowed to have a 308 in a HQ Premier... power to weight is fine, engine capacity to weight is fine, but its on the banned list and thats thier final stance.
