16th July Street Meet

Well one thing was for sure, it was bloody cold last night. Not too many people showed and by the looks of Lowpsi's post on the original thread we must have missed you by minutes. About 6 VLT's out there all up and the grand apperance of the RB30ET powered rana of Dean's. A fair turn out of other cars as well.
Matt ran his PB of 13.7 @102 mph.
I ran a 14.9 @ who cares it's slow anyway.
Another VLT running 14.1's.
Not sure if Lowpsi ran or what the other VL's were running.
A few quick turbo fours. That dude in the GTiR was breaking traction hard core with all four wheels, who ever said they knew him pm me casue my mate has a black one who would probably want to meet him. A mazda ute with basically the whole front guard taken up by an intercooler running 12's.
My camera takes crap night time pics but the cruise (if it's happening) pics should be better.

Apparently this is a rare sight, Matt winding up his boost.

Yeah it was my brother with the gti-r. Its pretty much stock bar exhaust, front mount and a heavy clutch. He dropped the exhaust at the end, didnt make a huge difference though. He was taking it easy too, had the laptop with data logger for afr's and nissan consult in the passenger seet as he reckons his fuel pump might be a bit sus.

Which one does your mate own, he knows most the gti-r owners in town.

Steve Makris, he had it in a Hawkins for 6 mths getting a Motec installed. He got it shipped from Japan. He has an exhuast, bigger fuel pump, heavy duty clutch, coil overs and not much else. He has so many parts waiting to go in like forged pistons, extractors, 17" volk rims, brembos. All from over seas, he never buys anything from Australia becuase it would be cheaper. He is even getting his tyres for the rims from Japan, how crazy is that. Your brother will know who I'm talking about.
And if your brother was taking it easy out there then I would hate to see him taking it hard. Almost rev limiter launches, rev limiter gear changes, I can't imagine it being flogged any harder.

I meant he was taking it easy with respect to boost etc. Launches arent too bad for gti-r's, no one has really killed first. Gear changes were getting a tad vicious though. He wouldnt have been flat shifting though, I think the rev limiter in first was more due to the wheelspin causing it to jump up to the limiter pretty quick. It can catch you out pretty easy.

Would just like to add matt did that 13.7 in full street trim, he was even launching halfies maroon vh which had slicks, although halfie top ended him pretty hardcore!

Overall it was a really good night out there, perfect racing weather. I can't wait to get out there and give the torana a good caining!

lowpsi: 15.8 out of a turbo vl is rather slow. Unlucky we missed you, oh well, next time.

Yeah there was alot of people out there last night for a street meet. Later in the night you could have a run, drive back, wait for probs 2 races and you were off and racing again.

Can't wait for matt to put some slicks on his rig and give it another run, with the weather like it is, alittle more boost could probaly be snuck in there aswell, as its only running 10 psi. I gave matt alittle run after the drags, and when my car wasn't fluffing and spluttering, it was pretty even, so that is encouraging. Tune sometime in the next few weeks, definatly before the end of winter.

No-one out there has a set of 10 inch slicks and front runners for a torana eh???

hey yeah i have to agree it was a good night all round i was very happy with my times i have to corect popeyes 12 second time the time card was dodgy i beat him fair and square top end by about a half a car length after he jumped me on the line.

i raced foney this afternoon i had my girlfriend in the car and he had tod in his car we where slowing down the the red light almost fully stopped in first gear the light changed and we both took off i pulled away a bit in first and then into second as his car has a bit of lag from the bigger turbo he pulled back when he came on in second and then once we where in third in was pretty much even same in forth the front of his car was at the back of my front wheels good fun it will be interesting to race him from a stand still good fun anyways thanks for posting those photos tim

10 pound when it ran the 13.7, it was matts second run of the night, it was against halfies vh. It was the best launch i've ever seen that car do. It launched the vh which had slicks and front runners, and held it all the way into the deep end. Halfies time was a 13.0 when matt did the 13.7. Awesome to watch!

Yeh it was so weird to see it hooking up with those crappy street 225's on.
I can confirm that you don't need as much boost on the na motors to beat the turbo engines. na manual as well.
What is next Matt. Bigger turbo, lowering compression, more boost.
You want to be able to smash Foney not just beat him.

i would think he could beat me now. ull never be able to smash me.
time will tell.
if i wanted i could buy a GTR tomorrow and smoke anyone, but like most people im investing in a house which in the long run will be better for me then having the quickest VL in town.
no one will ever be the best. there will always be someone with more money and better idears.. p.s he'd wanna smash me too. since my car has not even been tuned. 7 psi, **** exhaust. bald tired ect.
soo. give me a lil time and we will see. oh yes We WILL see.

Actually I now believe that you did run a 13.8 to Foney... You should give Matt a drive of your car, I don't know how he was launching it so well, but I don't think anyone beat him off the line, and with 60 foot times of 2.0 on street tyres, your car will run mid 13's I reckon foney.

Settle down Foney, I have been talking to one of your bosses and he can confirm you fire up way to easy. Just about anyone could go out and buy a GTR if they wanted, you think your the only one buying a house. I have a house, and two cars and a freakin family, otherwise I would have (want) the quickest VL in town.
I wouldn't dis you so much if you didn't talk your car up so much. Yes your car does have potential when tuned, every ones does.

U know give me a hard time, of course ill get my back up. but other times i do it to stir people up. because its fun.
I also dont talk up my VL. its a 20 year old s hitter. i talk it up a lil to make my self feel better after the money i spent on it.
I just thought u were having a go at me thats all. sorry mate.

PEACE.

ok lowpsi i was running wanlees 17 / 45 /235 s running normal pressure in them they hook up surprisingly good on the street and the strip burnout required though

um as for my best 60 foot time it was 1.8 something with retread slicks on with the old diff gears 3.45 which i have since changed to a set of standard r31 s 3.89s

tim my plans at the moment are to buy some acl forgies in the near future and build a new bottom end shot peened rods lower compression pistons to suit an na head/motor as detonation is limiting my power increases from what it has now as destruction of the motor will occur with any more boost or timing

foney my car is a complete piece of bull**** on wheels i have spent a total of 11000 dollars on my car including 4000 for purchase na manual and 900 worth of tuning at tms and the whole gtr thing they don't go that fast standard my mate just bought one it has exhaust and 10 psi and i beat it so yeah right set up good driving and quick reactions is the receipe for speed

oh and i ran 10 pound all night except of my last were i turned it up to about 11.5 and it ran a 13.9 or 14 flat or something all it resulted in was a bit more wheel spin in 1st and 2 nd but yeah i turned it back down to 10 straight after i don't have an electric boost controller so i don't ***** with it also i paid money to get my car tuned safely and nice for that boost so no point *****ing with it the engine is a head gasket waiting to blow
