12k to spend

hey guys

as the topic says, I may have 12k to spend on my car, which at the moment an N/A. So i guess I am after some ideas at the moment.

What I was planning to do, and i am open to suggestions coz i want this to work out) is buy a series 2 engine and use that as the base (rods, crank etc) and buy VLT pistons or hypertec pistons (if that is what they are called) and build the motor up from there. Then i need to get the gearbox, disc to disc axle etc. I am also planning on getting the car resprayed the colour that it is now (factory gold colour). I already have the turbo ( which i want to make t3/4 hybrid), manifold, injectors, oil and water lines, all piping, just need to computer. Will also have to get exhaust and supsension as well.

Can anyone tell me if this is doable or am I dreaming. I know the better option is probably buy a VLT and sell my car and use the money to work on the VLT, but I have spend 2k on getting it fixed to date, which isn't much I guess. Plus I would really like to keep my car. If its not financially viable though then I will sell up.

sell your N/A and put the money with the 12K and get a BT1 or VLCT, then go from there.

best man to talk to is pete! he converted his from NA calais to turbo and is tha man u want
personally i'd sell what you've got and buy the cheapest vlt you can find, rebuild the motor with sum quality cast pistons($600), shot peen the rods($100-200), xf throttle body($50), recond gtr injectors($300-400), bigger bosch fuel pump($300), 3" exhaust($1000), front mount cooler($1000), wade custom cam and some double valve springs($500max) and if you have any left spend it on an after market computer. You will be seeing low 12's easily! if not a high 11 with the right gearbox and tyres! Hiflowing a turbo can be expensive so your probable better of hunntin round for a 2nd hand bb GT series turbo, which can have potential should you wish to go further lata on

Ok then how much would my berlina be worth you reckon.

120000kms
decent paint (few shopping trolley dents)
little rust around the front windscreen
bloody nice interior just needs to be cleaned and vaccumed
Sony 52x4 head unit, JBL 320w 6 1/2 inch splits, 270w kenwood 6x9, 2x12" JBL subs, 1000w BOSS AMP. standard rims.

i started to buy parts to convert my na but then found a rb30et, box, brakes etc and got that put in. if i was to build another car i would buy a turbo one straight out and then rebuild/ mod it because it works out cheaper....

I'm looking to do the same thing towards the end of the year when I'm on holidays...
Probably about 10-12k for me. Mainly engine and maybe some other small things.

Currently looking into and gettin quotes for a proper reliable conversion. Kinda attached to my car

The most recent idea ive had is to upgrade the engine and fuel system at the same time.

EG: The majority of RB30ET comonents + LPG conversion. Probably Cost alittle more, but would be cheaper on fuel, which you'd make back. Then theres the government rebate for the LPG conversion? (gotta find that out).

Just a thought, not sure if its do-able. Going to ask some workshops when i go around for some quotes, as im not that mechanically minded

Can anyone here tell me a straight yes or no ?

If its is do-able, then theres the case of finding someone who does LPG conversions for proformance cars ;\
