Just an update guys... finished my car on friday afternoon (engine/driveline) still have to get my panels sorted but had it tuned and a few power runs with a best of 303rwkw on C16.... 26psi (stock bottom end, stock head) I don't care how long it will last but sounds unreal !! and no signs of detonation..

only downside... cut my ***in finger open this arvo with a stanley knife doin some work and had to call it quits at 3:30pm as i required medical attention... 6 stitches later and a few drugs. feel a bit better.. just to do the panels now, get myself some nankang cross plys and i'll be set for some 10's !!

vlhodge - does ur mum put out ??

Nice work! That's crazy talk, what do you anticipate for a street tune? Was your engine rebuilt to stock specs? Or has it already done a decent mileage? What mods have you done to get to that level of power?

Im assuming you've got an external gate so how are you controlling boost to 26 pound? I was going to run a bleed line on mine as it only has a 14 pound spring in it however i've been told that you can't do this, you need a special type of regulator or something????? Where can I get one? or should i just use a bleed valve like i was going to???

ollie - are you going to street register it at any point? on pump fuel you're looking at a solid 250kw at the rears on the same boost, more than enough on street tyres.

or is it just a strip bitch? let us know when you run it at willow, i'll come for a look-see.

u can use a conventional bleed valve inline of the gate , but ebc's are better.

not only that turbosmart give a range of spring setups - 7 , 10 , 14 , 17 and 21 , which come with the gate when purchased new.

though can be bought seperate if u wish

i thought 303rwkw @ 26psi on C16 was a bit soft myself, but as he said it's a standard head so that's pretty good considering. have seen 20% power drops going from C16 to pump fuel on a few cars so it's not too silly to say 250.

p.s. ollie, how are you gunna register it? unless you kept paying the rego all the time it was off the road

Rb26dett with a glide i prevously made 1st setup 340rwhp@23psi 11.9@120mpa 2nd 390rwhp@18psi spun a bearing before i got to race it now on 3rd set up

he will simply register it as a 6cyl car , doesnt make jack difference if it has 1 turbo or 8.

no doubt he will get some mods engineered just to f uck the cops off when the pull him over.

insurance may be a different thing.

0VL087 - I've heard that using a bleed valve on a external gate will only allow you to gain about 1 psi more than the spring. Is this true? or would I be able to bleed my 14 psi spring to say 20 psi?

sorry for thread stealing guys, to keep with the thread ... i

I've been running my engine in up and down my street for the last few days just trying to get some k's up and it is finally starting to get less and less ticky as everything is starting to wear in and clear itself... I'm so over rb's with ticky lifters!

The biggest drama im having at the moment is getting the thing to start as the 550 rota injectors seem to flood it up rather quickly so theres abit of a fine art to starting it. Gotta let it turn over til it feels like it wants to start and give then give it a bootful.

The auto slips once it gets hot, but that'll be fixed up soon, with an auto im building using parts from keas.

I wanna do about 1000 k's or 4 drop tanks ... whatever comes first then i'll put the auto in, get a nice tune and it'll be ready to hit the strip.

Can't wait...

I have just got my licence back & I am keen to go cruising with other VLT's let me know when any of you guys are headin out. I saw MAXPSI on the weekend on Mt Gravatt - Capalaba road, very nice.
