I got it to click in, but turn it and it doesn't do anything!! It's got something to dear with the little gear the barrel connects to..it came out with the old barrel..

Edit: Got it in. Had to play with the cog, or gear thing that it goes onto. Had trouble getting the gears inline with the little railing..

you dont always have to buy a new barrel. im a locksmith and its easy as to re pinn these barrels. just take it in to any locksmith and they should be able to fix it up and keep it on the same key.make it heaps easier not having different keys for doors and ignition.
also you cant put any other model barrels in.they have totally different setups, as for changing around the acc and off...as far as i know this isnt possible...

hey i am having a lot of trouble trying to remove my ignition.
My keys were stolen so i cant turn it to on position. I pulled the wheel and stuff of and cut the alloy part with flathead, i rammed the screwdriver in bashed clip in etc.. whilst pulling on the little nob sticking out, it wont come out? the knob has then broken of from pullin so hard, i then tried the technique of prying it out with flathead, the black cover of the ignition that had the knob on it has snapped of and the ignition is still in
can someone please give me some help?

Its a VL.. There was only 25 keys made for them. go to the wreckers and borrow some keys.. anything HG monaro, kingswoods, and eirly commies..

move the key up and down as you try it.. you will find one that fits very easly.

Matty.

Now you will have it looking something like...

last night i snapped my key, long story short, had to get RAA to tow me home, he told me it would be easy as to change the ignition barrels over, which it is, BUT i dont have a key to put it in the ON position... The 2 pins in the above pic stick out preventing me pulling it out..
Any ideas on what to do??

for future reference to anyone in my position i had to take off the entire ingnition barrel surround and swap it over with a 2nd hand one (thanks gav ) then buy a new ignition barrel and put it back together, sounds easy but took me a week to work it out lol
