Seat belt adjusters.

Hi, one of my seat belt adjusters is not retracting the seat belt (back right). Can these be fixed or is it simply buy a new one and fit it. They dont have any screws holding them together, well not ones that can be taken out anyway. How much does a new one cost roughly? are they a universal type (all commodores) or is it a specific VL varient.

Seat Belts

The exact same thing happened to me with the Back Right Seat Belt, I'm looking at just replacing the whole Seat Belt Winder unit with a second hand part, I'm pretty sure they're held in with a single Bolt...

I actually don't know, I don't think its possible though, I'm just going to replace the whole unit itself, the Retractor and the Seat Belt...

Kylie. The retractor, pillar mounted pivot and under seat anchor each have one (19 mm, if my memory serves me) bolt. I've had to replace a R/H rear seat belt on my old VL for a roadie and it was an absolute pain in the arse! I spent about an hour stuffing around trying to manouvre the little ******* around to get it out. I'd recommend you try everything possible to lube it and get it operating properly before you replace it. That is if your replacing it cause it doesn't retract well anymore. P.S is that really a photo of you

if you undo the seatbelt and remove the locking ball, it will pull straight out, then you can remove the belt, and pull the cover off the spring AFTER undoing the tension!, the spring will have rusted in halve!

I've got the opposite problem! My seat belts won't come down on either of the rear belts. I had a look at them, looks like a piece of piss to replace, but my dogs don't need seat belts so I probably won't do it.

Has everyone seen that underwear commercial that Kylie did? The banned one? That was the sh!t

The pillar mounted bolt is actually a non metric size,
http://www.geocities.com/darren_ponton/seatbelts.html
it has to be because the ADR's (Australian Design Rules) written
somewhere back in the fifties or sixties require it to be. A 19mm
might undo and do it back up, but you're better off using correct
spanner to prevent unsightly bolt 'rounding'. Certain of the other
associated bolts are also non-metric also, I believe.
OBES NOT.....

Removing SeatBelts

OK then, I don't care what you guys think about Kylie, it really doesn't bother me... 8) I'm here to talk about Seat Belts, which I recently removed... It wasn't too fiddly to get the whole thing out, and I didn't 'Round' the edges of the Bolts, simply been spraying them with CRC/4D-40 for the past few days and they came out really easily... Took me about 30 Minutes to do, should be the same to get them back in...

Sorry mate I just know a poof who loves Kylie.

Anyway I always use a ring spanner for the seatbelts sometimes the bolts are on damn tight and its easy to strip the edges away with a shifter..

Seat Belts

I was waiting for that to happen... We've been told... However referring back to Slippin's original question, are the Seat Belt Retractors and Latches Universal or specific to the VL? Because now that mine are removed I need new ones... Also can the strap be taken off the Retractor?

Bumping an old thread.

I am now having the same problem. So is it just the rusted-spring the one responsible for not retracting the belt back? Is it just the case of lubing the entire piece in order to get it working again? I don't know why they would rust - no water comes in through the panel joints.[COLOR="Silver"]
