Question: VL owners on Vic CLub Reg.

I have a question for the guys on club reg here it VIC.

I'm obviously not on club reg, hence the possibly silly question..
From what i understand, you're handed some what of a log book when you're on club reg, where you document your kms? Because you are only allowed to drive (x) amount of kms for whatever reason it is.
NOW, my question, if that is the case... A sh!t load of VLs, mine included, the odometer does not work. What do you do now? Im guessing its a MUST to have a working odometer on club reg?
How do you get around this? Fix it to work? Is that even possible? I dont want to change my cluster to one with a working odometer, i have the nice black one with the dots.
Cheers, any feedback is appreciated.
MUS.

Ks are not recorded just the date you drive
Your permit allows you to drive 45 or 90 days pending which one you pay for!

I can recommend Muscle Car Club Vic (musclecarclubvic@gmail.com) - very easy going and super reliable.

What other things happen in respect to fees, inspections and clubs?
Are there annual inspections?

What happens if you do not fix things and jump clubs, does the club send on unroadworthy information to VicRoads which may not let you re register and possibly send you to a roadworthy inspection?

club is required top take a series of photos annually on renewal of permit.

club is required to not approve vehicles which are not roadworthy or are on the wrong plates ie H not M.

club is required to notify VR of any non-current members. (if you change clubs without notifying.)

so yes you will either need a club which turns a blind eye or you will neeed to get mod certs for the vehicle and get on mod plates.

Dave I think I paid initial $200 sign up fee
Now I pay $50 a year to club for membership whether I have 1 or 30 cars
I also pay vicroads $70 a year for 45 day permit
No annual inspection
You can't just jump clubs you will have to re sign up and now provide a RWC cause some people had to ruin it for everyone driving around on club reg in 10 second cars on slicks

---------- Post added 16-03-17 at 12:15 ----------

Just saw your post Mitch!
Guess my club is very linient cause I don't do any of those
A few clubs made aloooottttt of $ few years ago when rwc weren't needed

Cheers for the replies guys.

I tend to overthink things sometimes but owning a car does that.

It will be interesting to see how S.A.'s new scheme pans out this year.

For all the headaches of dealing with people, I'd rather pay the extra money to normally register if I can.

deano, most clubs don't report but the requirements are written down.

also if most clubs reported unrw cars they may aswell just provide vicroads a complete membership list haha.

clubs previously had safety officers etc and they were in charge of inspecting vehicles.

now that they have introduced roadworthies CSO's can turn a bit more of a blind eye.

we maintain copies of all roadies on file and if im ever called on a particular car ill just say well heres the RWC you go ask the mechanic. i know no better i just like cars im not qualified!

and to reconfirm currently transferring 1 club to another maintaining plates maintaining owner etc you do not need a RWC. well that was about a year ago.

one particular club made a lot of $ and there were rumours of a sweetened VR employee bikies and money laundering. as such i try to steer people away from clubs that are considered "good" because you don't have to do anything and you just pay and noone sees your car. I always make sure people are aware that this can lead to what happened woth the club which was shut down.

people were notified by word of mouth and some people found out when they were pulled over and fined.

my suggestion is always join a dodgy club get on H plates (or M or SR or whatever) then join another decent club and once you have served out the waiting period etc transition to a legit club.

or start your own small club with family and close mates.

---------- Post added 18-03-17 at 10:46 ----------

oh and finally the club permit scheme can be quite convoluted as it is a permit not rego and it seems to exist entirely independently to rego.

as such you can't do a VRE, only recently have police systems and toll companies been able to retrieve owner details from plates, VR employees seem not to know what is happening and give inconsistent advice.

i once went down as club president with a mate the club secretary to enrol a car. they sent hiom away because they needed a letter from the owner!

i met him stormed in there said give me a pen and paper and said ***** write a letter, VR woman what do you want it to say?

ridiculous.

if they were bigger than legally allowed then every club will turn him down. the car has to have a current rwc to get club reg and i dont think any club these days will let you get away with obviously un-rwc mods like big wheels etc.
