Hi Everyone ,

Gold member with a fair few posts , can i link this account with the old?
2 previous builds on here:

Swore id never have another VL after moving onto xr6 turbos and skylines but like everyone if you dont have one you want one .

Watched the 2014 Vlt national vid and was bitten by the bug again so i jumped on gumtree hoping to find a clean white berlina , but during the local search this popped up and organised to check it out asap as it looked pretty decent , rare and cool imo.

Found out owner worked around the corner from where i lived and owner lived 10 mins away and had owned it for 4 years and i had only seen it once during that time , told me it was bought from a deceased estate him being the 2nd owner in his mid 30's.
Stock standard condition with faded paint, rust has been repaired at some stage small dint on rear quarter not in a very nice spot and standard cassette player and speakers , Everything works Ac is ice cold no wierd squeaks or rattles , overflow bottle is pretty clean and so is steering resivour all wiring is untouched and running original spark plug leads with 190ks on the odo
, missing one hubcap was told when add went up someone rang asking to buy hubcaps alone and sellers wife couldnt understand why someone would want crappy hubcaps , i had a smirk on my face .

Anyway everyone likes pics

Went around the parents place and went thru the workshop as knew i had left over parts

Found a VL turbo inlet plenum with turbo injectors and i bought a VL TURBO 3TA computer
Installed and got it running with standing intake and exhaust . Drives fine atm

Gave the plenum a paint strip and hit with alum-clean

Need to run thru the 91 octane in the tank and start using 98 , upgrade the fuel pump and reg at some stage . I have a surge tank with 2 VLT pumps or possibly N/A pumps i may run that as i have it if its not to much mucking around.

Went to the wreckers and bought new tailight globe holders from a vq stato and rewired the plugs as water had rusted the metal away and the rear lights werent working , sealed up the rear lights with a bead of clear silicone . Im amazed that the headlights work so well with stock wattage globes and one faded chrome lens and 28 year old plastic headlight covers , got to look into a relay kit for the head lights asap.

Cheers Mick

Cheers MUS ,

Been trying to find one VLT hubcap to paint gold as the car only has the metal ring left on the rim. So there is a SERIES 200 gold hubcap on the side of the road somewhere

Still driving around with VLT plenum , Injectors and Comp , drives nice i guess its just waiting for the positive pressure.

Replaced AC belt and water pump belt , gave it a service . Replaced some exhaust rubbers and noticed the radiator was leaking so found a 3 core radiator and had it reco'd .

When i picked it up drivers window wouldnt work. I cannot drive without having my window down cant help but listen out for unsual sounds....LOL , tried a mates centre console switch. Wasnt that so i pulled door trim off carefully which has never been off before need to redo the wax? that holds the plastic on , i read someone bought a new tube from somewhere , gave the motor a clean using the guide on here and adjusted the rail , works perfect now .

Dropped over the wreckers to find something similar to VLT hubbie , goodluck i know.....

Close right?

Hmmm that wont work , ahwell who wants crappy hubcaps anyway?

so im sure thats a joke but if not pull them out!

i am the only guy i know who removed my plastic weatherguards on my door cleaned em and re-glued. i went down to a bodyshop nearbye and got a tube of grey stuff that sels em. it was body sealent used on gaps between panels etc. so it stays flexi years on.

anyway good luck. i personally hate s200 interiors theyre ****ful but hey the exterior is cool and sleeper as. plus youre making good headway

S1roller , Yes it was your thread that i saw the wax on i will do the same thing. How can you hate on a S200 interior? VN style seats in VLC trim, VLC door trims but Vynal on the top of trims is awesome , no usual arm wear on trim, gotta appreicate that. Seats are mint aswell

Ive been slack , havent had time to do a top to bottom detail , hoping to get it on a mates hoist and degrease and Gurnie the underside, Cut and polish paint but im afraid its too far gone and previous owner didnt know about polish or the hazards of parking under a sap dropping tree.
But i guess it adds to the sleeper effect im aiming for but will look into getting it painted.

My Fav Pic ATM

When I got the car I removed the number plate covers and threw them out as i was going to clean the car up but no going the sleeper route, looked like original items aswell.

Last pic was before window went down was stuck down an inch , cant belive previous owner put up with it . Wanted a vl with windups last thing i wanted was electrics but im lucky the drivers window is probly the only one that ever got used , but in saying that i should check all motors and re wax weather shields on doors after i clean out and lanolin the insides, cars had a real quick cut in the pics as the roof boot n bonnet were like chalk

How did you find your fuel economy? I did the same to my VL in 2011 and I went from getting 600ks to a tank to 200ks to a tank

Keep the timing at 15 and keep the 98 octane flowing.

Bought myself a 3'' dumpipe , 3'' cat and 3'' 2nd catback exhaust

Got the car up on a mates hoist and installed the exhaust

Doesnt look to bad underneath still have to clean and rust convert parts

Gotta put on a dummy tip similar to this

Drove home in anticipation knowing i only had to install xover and intake pipe

Made up a custom intake pipe in 3'' Xover has a BOV on it so it atleast makes some noise

Took it for a drive , drives smooth needs the timing increased as its really doughy but has increased power buy a lot car actually pulls from 100klms now
Car has a tow ball and trannie cooler , is it common for a stock na auto to chirp 2nd gear? as its doing it atm

Got to get around to installing this

So i bought a full set of original series 200 hubcaps and used the best 4 and got them on the car

Removed the faded headlight

Chrome is stuffed as i suspected , will get copy chrome lens to fit into my standard glass, but in the mean time gave it a clean up

A little better

Got to start cleaning the car somewhere

Since running the intercooler ive had a niggling issue where the car wouldnt run right just off the throttle and want to stall ....
Was doing my head in! changed everything! Found out car dint like afm being infront of tb like so , moved the afm to above dizzycap atm later on

and 02 + - wires were melted together. Runs like a dream now, so i got a spare boost controller and wound it up a couple of psi, Car was going great would get on the brakes easy and was x2 as fast off the lights until ....

Only split an original transmission line after doing it up with a socket , so i bypassed the rad removed towkit cooler and fitted a big trannie cooler up the front.

---------- Post added 06-12-14 at 07:16 ----------

found some Graff on the way home so took some phone pics

Just been enjoying driving this thing

Going thru tyres

Noticed my water pump was leaking so replaced it

After making up a no holes intercooler kit with pipes and silicone i had , i ended up with far too many joins, so decided to get the plenum modded to forward facing, make a new cold side pipe without the afm in as as ive aquired a Microleb LT12 with a map sensor

Tight fit as i didint want to move the battery or cut holes

Threw it on the dyno so see what its doing as ive only ''ear'' tuned it on the road (boost +timing)

Current mods
RB30e+T
N/A auto box
Rebuilt T3 by MTQ turbos
Ported exhaust manifold
3'' exhaust
Modded VLT inlet plenum
intercooler
boost t
VLT auto ecu , injectors and afm

First run surprised me , was expecting 150rwkw

Yes its lean but its how ive been driving for months but the afm was in the cooler piping b4

So clicked down 1 or 2 psi on the boost t and ended up at 12.0 afrs and 9psi

No wonder its felt good on the street lately

Good power, Love the series 200, the interior is mint on them, bit of a worry to see they kept that pulling on the dyno with the AFR's up there

Bought a mt8 microleb ecu for it and tuner told me that the MAP sensor was'nt working so we opened it up and turns out the ecu is a LTx -12 .....Score!

Instead of sending the ecu to get repaired i orderd a new map sensor and installed it

Sensor working!

Bought a turbo auto and had it sitting around for ages , decided to install it before the n/a auto dies which wouldnt be long.

Removed my auto on a mate hoist , before installing the auto it was suggest to change the filter on the turbo trans once opened it was evident that i wasnt going to be using the turbo trans.

Installed my non turbo trans again and gave it a service , ive got a set of cleaned and serviced GTR injectors and this turbo setup ive been gathering parts for:
NZ Hybrid highmount steampipe manifold
Garrett T67 .7 front .82 rear
60mm china gate
turbo beanie

So i dont know what im going to do reguarding the trans now as i cant up the power without destroying the current transmission
