bendigo swapmeet who went?!

hey guys anyone else here head o the swapmeet today?

weather was good as always and as always i've got a light pocket, heavy trailer and very sore pink sunburned skin.

whatd you get?
whatd you think?

I've definately seen a movement from actual parts stalls to more collectables. I'd attribute it to more established shedding and all of this amrican pickers tv shows.

also i noticed in terms of what parts were there its predomiately hq - wb and xy - xc.

i was chasing HR holden stuff and most of what there was is taillights, stock blinkers and millions of headlight surrounds. noone i asked for parts even had much else stashed away which is a change from previous years where there was tonnes of stuff.

also the for sale cars section was gone and there was a smaller show and shine in its place.

i think we are seeing the end of swapmeets if bendigo is dieing.

didnt get any pictures obviously as were sashed busy but i got -

9 HK-G prem wheel trims
4 EJ - HR front armrests (slightly different but i recon the EJ ones can be modified)

and the pick of the day -

triple SU's comlete with LYNX mushroom air filters an a holden stamped inlet manifold which i believe is from an xui torrie. all of the linkges are there and even better fuel regs and even ID numbers for the carbs were intact!

I didn't go but I agree Swap meets are dying, Ebay can be blamed for that.

A few years back I bought a set of VLT hubcaps for $5.00 set of 4 @ Ballarat Swap, When on Ebay guys will pay up to $500.00 a set-Crazy.

I have a few friends that are pretty hard in to the scene, and get along to a few of them. I have heard a group of people openly saying "I paid 'x' for this and as soon as i get home i am going to put it on ebay for 'x'"

michael - yeah there was a bit of that going on. sadly!

vl exec find anything this time? there was a bit of vl stuff a guy i went with bought a damaged popup front for parts at $80 and a full set of armrests and doortrims for a andlewood berlina for $30. he intends to ebay the berlina stuff. i recon its so busy there you need to be focused on just what you need and leave all of the crap aside. then again if you are just there to buy and resell its a different game.

went to the whittlesea swapmeet up north last weekend. Pretty decent turnout i must say. Good to se some old cars get out and about.
Picked up a vl nosecone badge for 10 bucks in excellent condition.
lot of misc parts hanging around. Well worth the effort are the swapmeets.

The old saying U JUST NEVER KNOW...
