venetian red berlina sedan and wagon

hi peoples

here is some info on my 2 berlinas, both venetian red with maderia interior.

v8 sedan purchased in 2009, currently in pieces awaiting a resto.

interior has some wear and tear, but overall is in quite good condition.

i have the std berlina wheel as well as a single spoked calais one

spewing the previous owner cut holes in the front door trims for speakers

it had top half respray done just after buying it

sadly how it has sat for some time now

n/a 6 wagon purchased in feb this year with the intent of it being a daily, and swapping some interior bits for the sedan.

still not got it registered!

interior is not quite as good as the sedan, but is not missing anything.

exterior these photos make it look better than its is, its pretty sad

plans for the sedan are pretty much factory spec exterior and smoothed engine bay with LS conversion.

hoping to have the paint and exterior done by the end of the year, then can get started on the conversion.

feel free to give me your opinion on both of them, especially the sedan and doing the conversion.

thanks for looking

agreed, an LS wagon would be rad but thats for the sedan! wags is gonna stay as is.

speaking of the wagon, gave it wash and took it for it longest drive since i've had it, all of about 5 metres!

got a few more photos as well

currently gotta finish the exhaust off, give it a good clean up underneath check the brakes etc and grab a rear wiper motor. then get it rego'd

got the wagon rego'd in december last year and have been using it as a daily since. loving it

had to do the tailshaft on it a month ago

also looking at going discs all round on the wagon as i've got still got the gear off the sedan.

only progress on the sedan was getting it towed from the old ladys to my place (december also) and buying it a new car cover

its both depressing and motivating to see some of you other guys making progress

Dont worry i know the feel!
My VL sat in the garage for a year and a half before work began, and watching everyone else enjoy their builds is depressing lol

You'll get there and you've got a good base to work with!

the wagons excellent mate.

with the disc conversion get on it and while you are at it do the VT master conversion and the VLTurbo style front calipers and discs (same as stock vr / vs)

It's a cheap setup and phenomenally good. after having done it myself i can't believe it tok me soo ong to get my crap together and do it. especially in a daily.

photo of the dodgy 16s i stuck on it the other week

Also very very minor progress on the sedan.

I've got a fingered LS1 motor and loom, also have measured up some engine mounts to fabricate.

ATM the plan is to make them up, fit fingered motor, make up headers and start on stripping out the loom...not sure when any of it will actually happen

photos of said vt

Pulled the motor on Saturday

As it sits now

Motor has 120 K on it, but hasn't been driven for a few years. The plan is to strip it and see what condition its.

At a minimum I'm thinking cam, skimming the heads, but won't decide on anything until I see how good/bad it is.

Thanks philby...really wish I didn't go so retard on it.

Started pulling the motor down yesterday. Got the manifold, heads and sump off.

What I could see of the bores, they looked good.

Will pull the bottom end next weekend so I can see exactly what I have to work with and formulate a plan for the rest of the build.

Motor has been fully stripped for a couple of weeks.

Bores look good. Leaning towards new rings, bearings, some valve springs and a couple of turbos. But that could change lol

Can anybody give me first hand experience of how much the getrag can handle? Pretty sure it won't, so sussing out t56 conversions.

lol...was pretty much ready to order my cam and be happy with that, but having access to the facilities at work I know that I would regret not going in this direction.

i couldn't tell you what a manual will handle but i dont recon she would handle twin turbos.

have you considered a manualised auto? should hold the power better, allows for transbreaks and it will bypass the issue of wiring harnesses etc which a normal auto needs in a vl.

Has to be manual. Was gonna do the auto thing so the missus could drive it, but stuff it.

T56 should handle it, and is not too difficult going by what I've read so far.

Not chasing qtr mile times or big hp, just bit of low rpm fun for the streets...and wank factor
