Alright there was a story to this...

My dad's a mechanic so he knows where to go for this stuff. He rang up a Holden Parts supplier (Preston motors in Dandenong) and specified the Make and Model, being an executive/SL the colour is MX Grey (obviously).
The parts dealer have a separate paint supplier who mix it for them and then they sell it on.
Basically, Holden (or their spare parts dealers) sell it mixed, but they dont actually mix it themselves.
Cost wise, it was free because we knew the guy in sales/dispatch and he just came and dropped it off

sorry for the rant, but yes as far as im aware they do it. Alternatively ive heard you can go to AutoBarn with the MX Grey paint code and they'll mix it up for you in a pressure pack

I think this looks better then Vk tail lights.. Give it a bit of a haze with tint spray if you want it a touch darker. Or go berlina lights, there darker then sl.

Thanks for that mate.

My local paint shop made me a pressure can in MX Grey for next to nothing.

Bloody stoked.

I know what u mean, but I'm probably not going to buy another set of lights now. I'll chuck the other ones on and see how they look, if I don't like it I'll put it back the way it was.
The plan is.to match the vk style lights with a black centre garnish because I've seen quite a few people do it, and it looks pretty good

Thanks for the feedback, actually considering leaving it now lol

Update:
Progress finally, albeit a bit slow

Mock fitted the new aftermarket front bumper. We've left out the moulds because were going to take it to the panel beaters soon to get some of the dents fixed, and the bumpers will have to come off again for that. So to keep it roadworthy and to allow us to drive it there, the bumpers will just stay on like that for now.

For an aftermarket item, it actually fits quite well and im happy with the gaps on both sides. The only problem we came across is that there was some slight filing required on the metal bumper support to allow the bolts to fit through.

Once it gets back from the panel beaters, my dad and I are gonna start prepping the body for a respray, we are gonna do it ourselves in the original morning blue and also re-do the bars and moulds in mx grey. Cant wait

Also putting together a wishlist for some more bits and pieces:
- Grey sunnies holder (if anyone has one, pm me)
- Highrise console (if anyone has one, pm me)
- Drivers side headlight cover (yes i only have one)
- Black centre garnish
- Also been seriously considering going MF5, which is probably the best p-plate mod imo

thats all for now

Iv got a plain black garnish. If you want it, its yours. Just PM me and organise something.
Builds coming along great! I fitted complete after market bars to my berlina and they fit 100% front and back without any issues.

Just get whatever colour sunnies holder and repaint it what you want later.

True, but then I have to paint match the grey and then paint it easier just to find a grey one in the first place

Why dont you get the grey colour matched? Then you can use any sunny holder all you got to do is spray it.

Mainly because I don't know how:
1. To get it colour matched
2. To re spray those bits, the interior plastic is different to the side moulds etc, so im not sure what to do

---------- Post added 21-03-13 at 13:59 ----------

Any advice on this would be helpful!

Bring a piece of your interior to a automotive paint shop and get the paint match. Then use a spray gun and repaint all your plastics, has been done before, thats pretty much what most people do when painting their dash.
Otherwise get the closest colour to it thats already a colour (example, 1d008) and bring the paint code to autobarn and get it put in a can.
WINNING!

So no prepping or sanding required? Sounds noobish, but I'm a beginner when it comes to spraying/painting things

Yeh it's motoring along slowly, wish I could say I've done more, but with school (damn year 12) and everything I haven't had a lot of time

I finished prepping the wheels a while back, but haven't gotten on to the powercoater yet, same goes for the body prep, I haven't nagged the panel beater enough yet to book it in (its a mate of ours lol)

I'm hoping in a couple of months ill have everything ready so I can change over all the bits I've gathered and get the respray done in time for when I have my Ps.... That's not until November

Ohh fair enough, I remember when I first got my red SL I just started yr12, so annoying wanting to do all this stuff but school gets In the way, it's better if you pace yourself anyway rather than rushing into doing stuff as I've learnt. Should look good once the body work is all done, I'm still deciding weather to go on with the Calais or buy an SL again, they jut as good if not better IMO than a Calais it's so hard to decide lol

Hahaha i was in the same boat as you to start with, I had just got the Executive and wanted a Calais. But after seeing so many calais projects turn to rubbish and many owners half destroying them, i prefer seeing a clean SL/Exec nowadays just for something different, plus they do actually look really good as well

I have owned SL turbos, Berlina and calais turbos.. SL's are good because you dont have any dramas with electrics. But when you have electrics its hard to go back! Also Berlina and Calais interiors are much nicer.

No doubt, that's the only drawback of the sl, the interior is sub-par in terms of comfort
