Time for an update guys... Been a little busy lately with exams, damn hsc :/ anyway found a bit of time and got a little excited after going to the VL meet (7th august 2012) and got a bit done to the car today...Took a few pics along the way.

At the VL Meet with all her relatives

Got myself an original MOMO steering wheel with boss of my mate

Also got myself a radiator cover from jeremy at Brightline Fabrications, looks mad it my opinion

Just thought it looked good her for 20+ year old paint job...

Pulled the rocker cover off for some wrinkle red...

The rocker cover

And I finally decided to prep my moulds for a re-spray in mx grey..

Sprayed a few extra things to get the bay looking a bit nicer but ill wait till its all back together to take a pic...

Hope everyone likes the thread...

Ok guys time for an update
So I have finally sprayed all my bars/ moulds as they were either cracked, scratched or chipped in a custom MX Grey, it has a little bit of like extra silver metallic in it, you can barely notice the difference, but I think it looks good. Ohh and I also sprayed my rocker cover wrinkle red anyway here's some pics...

Prepping the drivers door mould

Passenger mould

Drivers side done

Left side done

Off came the front bar

Prepping and spraying

Upper mould thingy

The rocker cover

The engine bay

Giving her a bath

ALLL DONNNE

Thats all for now guys will post up more pics as it progresses, Hope everyone likes the thread so far

Update time guys....

Well something very upsetting happened last night (09/09/12) not to the car but to me... I have lost my license for 3 months due to me being stupid and speeding. -.- My fault completely...

But work on the car will continue as usual...
In the next 3 months I'm going to be doing a few things to the car that I've been meaning to do for a while.

- VLT Diff rebuild (3.45 gears and a lsd rebuild)
- Custom boot install with just simple carpet and plywood and a sub or two
- Adjustable pan-hard rod and new rear bushes

These are just a few major things I plan on doing since I can't drive the car for a while and will keep me interested in it still..

If anyone can recommend a decent place to rebuild a diff in sydney besides diff technics please let me know..

thanks Nick.

So since I've lost my license, I have had more time and money to spend on the car. Anyway so Ive done some stuff to it and bought some stuff for it

The stuff Ive bought:
- Stuff for the boot install (carpet, wood)
- Wheel dressings
- And Ive got my eye on a diff finally

Now for some pics of the boot
Heres how it looks...

Wheel dressings :P

Ohh and some 20's that I was thinking of buying. But Im buying a diff instead

OK guys update...

The diff is now out of the car and on the floor of the garage.. Waiting to be fitted with a newer vlt diff.. Just waiting to be payed, so I can then pay for the diff.

Anyway some photos for yous

Where its at now...

There's not much left that I wanna do now to the car, I guess now I can save for my gts-t gearbox and turbo conversion....

Thanks man, yeh just make the bay look a lot nicer.. Umm the diff is gunna be a LSD 4 pinion 28 spline axles and 3.45 gears disc brakes basically a vl turbo diff, minispools are pretty crap for street use, they chew up tires and are terible for parking and stuff, Ive got an lsd, 3.45, disc brake sitting her id sell you cheap since it needs a small rebuild but your in victoria...

Ive still got ages on my p's man, 3 years or less I think a bit less.. Plans for it are VLT Diff, upgrade the gearbox to gts-t gearbox and turbo but thats all way in the future apart from the diff.

Minor stuff that can get done quickly like alarm, rims possibly and custom plates And probably other stuff like brakes, suspension, all the bushes...
The list goes on hahaha

Diff has been painted and is in finallyy guys.. Just need to replace the centre bearing in the tail shaft, its making a racket! I also took the commodore badge off the rear garnish and resprayed my tail lights, I think they look great. And I also got some vl berlina door handles... I think they are from a berlina?

Diff is so tight compared the old one..

Tail lights all painted and pretty

Old door handles

New Berlina ones?

Thats about it for a while now.. Ohh and I also got a dash mat to keep it OG but no photos..

Not a fan of Calais seats in an Executive, however, respect for the obvious passion and work involved.

Keep it NA forever I reckon.

What's the deal now regarding age and driving Turbo cars?

Varies from state to state, Here in ACT we can drive whatever we want on our P plates and they even offer a "P off" course which means your still on your P plates but you no longer have to display them on your car.

NSW on the other hand, if you're on any kind of P plates...you can't drive anything with a turbo or V8...sucks to be you guys haha

Mine were pretty dirty and had a few tear's in them and calais interior is way comfier so I went for that. Hmm Im still tossing up either turboing it or seliing it later on and buy an already turbo'ed VL. P Plates in sydney cant drive turbo or V8's..

Cool, driving rules still the same then.

Yeah, was gonna say you're better off getting an already turboed car.

Love how shiny and tidy yours is at the moment though.

A standard t3 setup or an already turbo'd A8 VL... Decisions..decisions

Thanks man the paint came up so good after a polish, I used that turtle wax specific colour polish it comes in most popular colours.. I used the red one obviously.

Finally got around to becoming a member so i can comment on this.

Looks awesome mate! its the inspiration i'm looking to follow with mine, keeping it clean, simple (obviously took a lot of effort to get there!), but very, very nice indeed.

And yes... the number plates look good as well.

2 questions, How did u get your headlights so clean? or did you replace them?
What did you do to prep and re spray your bars and moulds? I want to do the same, but have no clue how to start.

Keep it up, looking really good.

Thanks mate, definatly took a lot of effort well worth it Im my opinion.

Its pretty simple these are the steps I followed:

1) Sand them down with 400 grit dry
2) Fill any chips or scratches with some filler/ bog and then re-sand with 400 to get it smooth
3) 1 or 2 coats of filler primer on the moulds with filler on them
4) Sand again 400 dry and all other bars moulds aswell.
5) As for paint I used those little touch up cans that supercheap auto sell, I used 'DARK GREY METALLIC' which is almost an exact match to mx grey, only it has a little bit of sparkle in it. If your doing all the bars/moulds then you wont need to match it to the others done in MX Grey.

Thats pretty much a rough idea anyway. PM me if you need any tips while your doing it.
