My 87 VL Executive

Make / Model: 87 VL Commodore Executive
Colour: Maranello Red
Engine Type: RB30E
Exhaust: Extractors, high flow cat, 2.5 inch all the way through
Gearbox: R33 5spd manual/w HD Exedy Clutch
Diff: 3.45 LSD 28 Spline axels
Brakes: Disc's all round
Suspension: Ultra lows front/rear with monroe gt gas struts
Wheels/Tyres: 15" Chasers w/ centre caps and wheel dressings
Interior: Cleanish and standard w/ BT1 Dash cluster
Stereo: Kenwood headunit, splits up front, 6x9's in the parcel shelf and carpeted boot with 10"sub
Updated on: 12/10/12
Future mods: Adjustable Panhard Rod and after my P's I've decided on a standard turbo setup

So I just turned 17, I've been driving a n13 nissan pulsar for 8 months to learn on for my L's, haven't got my p's yet (i have 1 month to go), I recently sold it to my brother to buy my first VL. I paid $2000 and it came in pretty good nik, and was looked after well. I bought it off my mate that had it for 6 years and before him it was his grandfather's, that makes me the third owner. The car came with lowered springs all-round, full exhaust, stereo and a boot full of extra's. Ive always loved cars but in the recent year's vl's have really caught my attention, after working on my uncles vk ex-chaser with him I really started getting into vl's... So this is where it begins
Ok now for some pics :P...

When i first went to have a look at it.

The day I bought it...

The boot is a little faded...

After a clean to get the chocolate stains out..

Letting it sit in the sun after a good wash...

And after a decent polish...

ANNDD MY FIRST DRIVE :P

Updates soon guys. hopefully the diff will be in this week or next sometime...

Thanks Nick

Nice mate. Very good first car, reminds me of mine. Id be flicking off the 14s and getting a set of silver chasers for now and a set of rims later on.

Keep and eye out on ebay and at the wreckers for a berlina/calais tacho dash. PM me if the oil pressure gauge doesnt work and flicks straight to 5+.

Id be replacing the SL light with some VK or VL berlina ones as the look much better and match the black tail light trim...where as the SL ones.... dont.

Keep it updated.

Nice one. Hit the wheels with some 400 wet and dry paper until theyre all nice and smooth, then wash with soapy water and then clean with wax and grease remover.
Use a metallic silver (spray can are fine, just get good quality automotive ones.) Give 2-3 coats and then 1-2 coats of clear (letting them dry between each coat) And dont forget to do your center caps at the same time

Update guys, with pics!!!

So I serviced her the other day and took some pics and discovered something along the way. I changed the plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter and cleaned the throttle body. While the car was jacked up I found that the crossmember was from an auto and had been modified to fit the R33 box when it was converted, it was just cut and welded, it doesnt look like its going to last very long so ill be getting a new one of those aswell as a new diff sometime soon hopefully. After the service the car drives really well and sounds a little smoother on idle aswell.

Now for some pics

I also discovered that I have a chrome exhaust tip which look really neat and shiny now :P

Thats all for this update...

I got some executive hubcaps for it, an extra amp to run the sub, and i pulled the headunit out and will be replacing it soon hopefully.

Pics....

my old VL turbo was exactly the same just ice-blue over mx-grey, nothing more tuff, i personally think that series 1 chrome door handles would set this off with all round black venetians but thats just me.

Thanks mate, good to hear some feedback, I got this SCA brand paint from super cheap auto, just a silver colour and a cheap clear, they worked very well with each other, hasn't chipped off yet or melted from the heat either.

It is a little bumpy but It doesn't really phase me, I love the height of it, just know that it may rub inside the guard depending what wheels/tires you have. mine rubs when I go over a hard speed hump or something, but thats only been once, my exhaust scrapes on over speed humps aswell, just a little tho lol
