Question HDT VL Calais LE V8 Build number

Hi Guy's, I own one of the few V8 LE Calais HDT's to be built 39 in total, Was wondering how to determine which number out of 39 it is? HDT build number is 4196. Any help would be great... Cheers..

There certainly wasn't as many as 39 of them as the LE name had been dropped from use before the V8 was released and replaced with the model name Sport.
The LE name got reused much later on for reasons unknown (Calais Sport was basically the same as an LE anyway but without having the Polarizer mounted in an obvious location) on a couple of cars with the V8 engine. The number of V8 LE's was around 4 of which yours is possibly the first and it is the only one i have ever seen come up for sale over the years.

There was 39 VL Group three's, not LE, there were plenty of HDT LE, and then GMH built a few LE of their own, the build number sounds correct for that era, any pics so we can drool and tell you what is original and what is not?

There is also an LE Rollcall thread I created on this site - with your car featured.

http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...20622&\&page=1

You could also try Brock commodores.com. Whole heap of feature cars and also a massive amount of spec files on every HDT released.

Actually, I think you'll find most of the LE's were atmo or turbo 6.
