There is no longer any need to 'sell out' to an auto just to stop breaking boxes when there are options like the amazing par gear set, you can go fast in a manual and not break it.

Ah well I suppose when you've got the cash to throw around you could build the thing up to make it handle the power. This is a drag car not a circuit car, right?

There is a place in drag racing for h pattern manual cars, especially if Mo was interested in dyno comps??

I believe Sydney runs a fairly fast manual car?

At 11k + freight I'd rather go auto + redo a rear end setup and go a lot faster, not about being a bitch and swapping sides, it's about I personally couldn't justify spending that money on a straight line warrior

Fast VLs full stop, I think you'll find

Whether it's true or not, the MR guys and Ben who owns TEMPER maintain that the box in the car is totally standard. I know that he has several replacement boxes for if/when the one in the car breaks, but if this is the case surely keeping a manual box alive isn't just about metering the power going through it and waiting for it to die, but rather ensuring that the ancillary hardware supports the combo?

Kind of like matching your stall and tranny cooler to keep your auto functioning in tip-top shape, I'd say that clutch and oil choice have a lot to do with the longevity and health of manual boxes.

yeh thats is strange I must admit lol I still dont really get the point of all that work for 2.5Ltr in a vl, unless its for drift and your revving the guts out of it... which im pretty sure its not lol

Ive been doing some thinking about this lately as well, what do you think would be the best h pattern for a fairly high powered drag car (800rwhp+)

Os giken/PAR/PPG gearsets, helixical/straight cut?? Hollinger/HKS h pattern? Standard box replaced after every few meets? haha

Cheers guys :-) so close to having it back. I've recently bought a glide for the car and that'll go in wen/if the 33 box kisses death. Time will tell how it goes at the track. Dunno if il get it down to race b4 the Season ends tho as I still have to run it in then get it tuned etc.

But yer. Also ordered a set of billets from show wheels for it about 4 weeks ago so should have them in the next 6weeks all going well.

Hanging to cruise it bad.

Love the tank. Looks familiar ;-) haha. But quick q, going to change to braided lines? Also thinking of running same kind of filter setup to mine or something else in mind?

Il change to braid eventually, this was to just have it done. Won't need filters on the 044s as the walbro intank has a filter on it.
