Thats a pretty big job mate, the kind of hours it takes to do that kind of thing ends up being very expensive for a shop to do.

If you bought a wreck, it really helps things and you can pinch grommets, parts etc from it.

Hell a later model K-frame may even bolt up into the VS body. Then its just a matter of plumbing it all up.

NJC LSX Performance has done a few into early girls but the guy is swamped with engine builds and the like. I won't ream you on price and his work is perfect. Getting the car to Vic would be fun as well.

Good luck, all the earlier cars with LS engines I've been in hands down kick ass.

Brad @ Enhanced Automotive could do this for ya i reckon.

www.enhancedautomotive.com.au

He sourced a ls1 engine for my wh as a replacement, it took a week from start to finish after i dropped my car off which a knock/blown ls1 engine.

In that week he pulled my old engine out, stripped it down, wrote up my options, sourced a 2nd hand engine, installed it and serviced the trans as well. Drove away a week later happy.

I know he's done conversions before and I'm sure he could tackle yours if you call him or go down and discuss the options. He's at salisbury.

Do it yourself. I'm almost half way through mine and it's not that hard. Just time.

1 owner original stato sounds good, but why search for one to strip it all?

I'm just saying 20K as I wouldn't want to under sell the bloke..

I reckon box + trans - anywhere between 2K - 12K depending 1999 LS1/auto to a new crate 2011 LS3/6 speed Auto

ECU/Loom/Cluster

Fabrication, pipes, fuel system, tailshaft, diff etc etc Its not a small job, and can be done a lot cheaper if you do it yourself but it would be a couple of weeks work for one bloke @ $80hr etc it adds up.

castle main rod shop make all the bolt on parts, my mate is putting a ls1 and 6 speed into a vl, they do engine mounts, reverse plate for the starter ect, will be costly.

why not give it a go yourself? you will save sooo much cash, learn heaps along the way and it'll be the most rewarding feeling the first time u take it for a drive knowing you have done the work

I woudn't have a clue,I just coudn't justify spending 20G on a VS statesman
to put a stocker in it, rather buy a later model car with that motor. But thats the car scene if we all did the same **** it would be boring, woudn't it
cheers

well ive changed a few things now instead of putting it all in the statesman ive decided to keep that as a daily seeing as its duel fuel and a V6.. So instead im putting it in a VR SS 5L 5 speed im picking up for 5k next week.. I also bought all the stuff i need from castle main rod shop engine mounts, gearbox mount, L to R starter motor conversion, etc which all up cost me $2500. So that has saved me a fair bit and i might have a HSV VT ls1 motor thats done 55,000kms lined up for under 3k off a member off here so all i'll need is a 6 speed conversion, exhaust and the extractors which im told will have to be custom.. Ive spoke to my mate who works for LMG performance and have decided to do most of the work myself while im off shift.. and i was quoted 13k professionally but if i do it myself i reckon i could do it for under 10k with ease including the tune and few little mods.. i will be making a thread very soon so keep an eye out for it

Beware of early Gen III motors, seen many coming back under warranty for oil consumption...
