yea, its still currently registered. i dont think you would want a track car to be too ridgid, would ya? it would just start to slide round corners.

Been looking into the lsx 454 aswell, its quite surprising the different prices companys are selling at, the most expesive i found was 20k and the cheapest was 10k for the exact same motor. one day ill get there

---------- Post added 16-05-11 at 21:59 ----------

the part of the cage im a bit suss on. see how it comes down following the shape of the car, then back in on an angle in the boot...

no you do want stiffness. simply: rigid body means the suspension does the work. and then you get suspension to match. personally i was looking at "race suspension" setups, eg coilovers and firm all round and have been warned off it on an unbraced vl chassis (or indeed any commodore/falcon) because the suspension will be firm and the chassis will flex.

if you firm up the chassis and then have racing suspension the car will handle the best it can on the track. out on the street and at the drags might be a slightly different matter.

cage looks great btw, is it all matching to standards already? eg correct diameter and bracing etc? it was originally build for ANDRA so it would likely be setup for that anyway. whats the rear end setup? or did i miss it?

not sure if it was built to andra spec ( id assume it was as it was built to go quick!), but i dont see why it wouldnt pass, ive seen bulk cages very similar, mine just hugs the chassis alot closer. if it doesnt ill re-do it. when i mentiond the rear end, it was only the bar in the back to move the suspenion inwards. you can see it in the boot. ive not aquired a nine 9inch yet as im still unsure about what i wanna do with the car.

i dunno man, some cleaver interior design and some rear venetians and a touch of tint the cage would be near invisible from every angle bar the front... so many cages in vls stick out really far back behind the pillars, but yours is tucked up pretty nicely.

what ever you are doing with it i'm excited, why not put a mild setup in and do both for a little while, then decide what you like more?

ended up with the day off today, so i tryed to install the front suspension all in the oner, kframe and everything attached. it didnt work out, i spent 1.5 hours ****ing around trying to get it into place, plus get it lifted up high enough to reach the strut tops,( who knew it would be so ****ing heavy) managed to get the passenger side bolted up, and one bolt on the drivers side. mazza is coming round monday after work, so hopefully we can finish it off and get the car on the ground.

it must be somthing like 1.5 - 2 years since that car has had wheels and been sitting on suspension. then ill start bolting everything back on and getting it ready for paint.

EVL: i thought of doing that but i didnt wanna mess up a nice painted floor, it shouldnt be too hard to pressure blast it, acid wash it then paint it when the project is done.

mucked around with the car today. 2 more doors on, mocked up the dash/ partly, rear seats and door trims, give you an idea of how well the roll cage is hidden.

picture time.

What roll cage?

After a **** mate dropped out from helping me lower the car on thursday, i decided to tackle it myself today, two jacks, one at the front one at the back and me steadying the car as it came down, took me 2 hours to get it lowered the diff put in and push it around in the garage. pics.

That VL was David Budd's. The Buddsta will be more than happy to let you know the exact colour as he had that car re-sprayed. Send him a PM on here, his user name is TheBrock.

I had no idea that was a wa car,i typed thats series of vl into google and that one caught my eye. As it's perfect. Unfortunately all ihave left to do is tidy up the underside and wheel arches then it goes on hold for a good year.. As I'm doing a couple of big over seas trips next year... But then I've told the mrs, I'm sinking some $$$$ into to make it progress. I'm fed up of it looking like this!
