jacks 100% super fun time calais turbo build thread

After many years of driving vl’s, from bucket of **** thrash cars to a pretty clean calais 5L, an opportunity came up that I couldn’t miss. Genki posted for sale a freshly resprayed 86 calais rolling shell for the right price. A month or so later, i picked up the car, sold the rat and got started on putting everything together.

Back track about 9 months ago and i got the idea of building a 25/30 after reading a heap of threads about blokes that had built 400hp+ motors just from slapping a 25 head of a standard rb30e block. So I brought a 25 head and accumulated a pile of bolt-on’s and am in the process of deciding how I want to build the motor.
Make / Model: 1986 Holden VL Calais 5Spd
Colour: Mitsubishi 380 electric blue over Asteroid silver
Body kit: Factory Holden
Engine Type: Rb30det
Engine Mods: standard for now

Brakes: VT master cylinder, VS booster. Front: 330mm rotors with gtr 4-pot callipers. Rear: standard disks with bendix ultimate pads
Suspension: ultra lows all round, nolathane bushed and k-macs up front
Wheels/Tyres: Polished Calais rims
Interior: immaculate grey S2 calais interior with HDT head rests brand new weather seals all around, brand new scuff panels, momo steering wheel and venetians (rear and side), a few gauges around the place.
Stereo: eclips deck,front: pionere 4" 2 ways. rear: eclips 6" 2ways

Other Mods: line locker, intercooler, greddy catch can, surge tank, battery in boot, bonnet struts, polished strut caps, hidden engine bay wiring, VL turbo radiator, VT commodore power steering res.
Engine: fully rebuilt rb25det head with modified oil galery for vct, rebuilt t66 turbo with 360deg thrust bearing, 6boost high mount manifold (modified with t4 flange and larger external gate port), greddy copy plenum, 600cc SARD injectors, microtech LT12s ECU, 6x Bosch mec 717 coils hidden under plenum, tial 44mm waste gate, XF falcon TB, bosch 044, ARP head studs, sard fuel reg, turbosmart e-boost 2, full stainless cooler pipeing, genuine nissan head gasket, gates racing timing belt

Pics time:

(Stolen from Genki’s fb – it’s the best one I have atm)

Car hasn’t bin washed for a while 

iv found a mob that sells pistons, rods etc. as a kit to build a 25/30 so i think il just buy that. i already have a fully rebuilt head with cams and 2 rb30 bottom ends to choose from to build it. but for now im just going to cruise it with the 30et

i thought i'd rather see what you could come up with on your own. the general consensus is i write too much, why would you want something penned by me as a title?

x2, why? No shit Nostradamus, he's interested in what's happening with the car he had for years, why is that surprising?

Car looks good anyway Jack, though I concede - I thought the Rat had way more cred.
