Well finally looked at it last night and sure enough it wasn't getting any fuel. Found that the external pump isn't working. Gonna go see if i pick one up tonight :-)

Just as an update.
It was the fuel pump, car runs sweet now. Drove to Dunedin and back no problem.
I have booked it in to get all the rust in the boot cut out including under the rubber seals. Hope it doesn't cost too much.
Have pulled out the centre console today to give it a clean as it looks like coke has been spilt and left for quite a few years :-(. Under the seats is also sticky so going pull them out at some stage to clean. very tempted to get all new carpet, need new carpet in the boot anyway.
I also might Degrease the engine this weekend if I get around to it. Then I might put some pics up.

Well things have gone a little differently than i had originally planned. The Vl has gone on hold for a while longer as i did what Aaron did and got myself an VZ SV6. Awesome car for only being a V6. Pretty much got it as im sure my evo was about to die so instead of forking out cash for fixing it i traded it in and got the VZ :-).
I have also moved into a flat last weekend so my finds will be a lot lower now, Got a pay rise but still doesn't cover the difference :-P.

When I was moving to the flat my Dad drove my vl to the new place and was shocked at how crap it was :-). I always knew it handled bad, so i think i might be first on my list to figure it out. The steering is way to sensitive. going 100Km its hard to keep it in a straight line. Not sure if there is something wrong with the suspension or steering rack or what as i have never had to deal with something like this. Any suggestions?

Im starting to think I might just sell this vl and later down the track find a nicer one. Although it seems that the price of the vls are going up. Use to be able to get mint vls for 2-3k.

Well i thought instead of starting a new thread ill just continue on with this one.

So as some of you guys might know Aaron and I picked up my SL turbo on saturday. Was a pretty fun trip. around 10 hours of driving thanks to Aaron.

When we first got to the car it was just sitting in some grass on the side of the road. So didn't have high hopes, had a look around the car and found that someone had resprayed the car with out any prep work and the paint was flaking on quite a bit of it, quite noticeable on the trim pieces.

The owner came out and handed us... well Aaron :-P, the keys and we opened it up. Sure enough Factory VL Turbo. Turned the key and it fired up no problems. So we sorted out the paperwork loaded it onto the trailer and away we went.

Once i got home i started sussing out things. Random wires all over the show. Then called it a night.

The next morning I had a nice game plan sorted as I wanted to get the car wof'ed so i could start enjoying it. Which at the time was fix the front bumper as some of the mounts were snapped and change the wheels from my other vl.
I headed to the garage to find the whole place reeked of petrol. After abit of searching found that the hoses that are on the injectors were swelled and cut up from the clamps. So added another thing to the fix list...
Without any help i thought i would just leave this problem for the time being and move onto my original list.

I began to remove the front bumper when i found that my horn was pretty well smashed, then tried to locate the cables for the horn which were cut near the radiator. Once the bumper was removed I decided to grab these air horns i have had for ages measured up and mounted them around where the original horn was. I then grabbed a new Bumper center that i got awhile back for my old vl and put that on. At this point i decided to try to get the red paint off the bumper ends. was alot harder than i thought it would be so only got around to doing 1 side, didn't matter as the other sides mount was broken so need to get a new one anyway.

I had to get my parents from the airport at 4 so left it at that tidied the garage. once we got back i decided to take it out to get some petrol, parents tagged along. Ran pretty sweet came on boost pretty quick but the BOV sounds pretty crap.
Got home opened the bonnet to find the bov had spat oil all over the underside of the bonnet and where the air box usually sits, Which im hoping is only cause of the light oil that the previous owner put into the car.

So that's it so far. one step forward two steps back at the moment but it will come together.

So if anyone has got any parts lying around that could help let me know :-)

Umm. To begin with I'd just like to tidy the front up. Need the bumper trim, bumper ends and factory grill. Also want to get a drivers side sl tail light. Might settle for a passengers side berlina light instead.

Might be easier just listing the rest:
Door trim
Boot lid
Drivers seat
Center console
Parcel tray
Boot carpet
Fuse box
Factory airbox
Water bottle, what ever its called
Injector hoses
Adjustable pan hard.

This is all just off the top of my head.

Nice score man. Enjoyed my VLT's when I owned them. But after owning 3 thought I should try a V8. Still VL though. Lol.

Main thing to remember.....even if your funds do dry up, dont sell it

So long as you have it under cover its not going to deteriorate very much and its better having it stored away knowing your going to do it up, than some muppet buying it and driving it even further into the ground...

Save the VLT's

Well the car has been at a mechanics since monday and will probably be there for a while longer. Took it in for them to sort out the fuel leak.

Once they pulled everything apart they found that one of the pipes coming off the fuel rail was crushed quite badly. about a 1mm gap. So they sorted out a replacement rail.
They replaced all the hoses, clamps and injector seals. they had a bit of trouble getting it running smooth again but got there in the end to find that one of the injectors leaking.

SO now I need to find 1 replacement turbo injector. If I can't find one in nz new for under 100 Im just gonna get my uncle to bring one over as he will be coming over in 2 weeks.

There is a set of them on Trademe...

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=457160338

However I think you'll find they are RB20et....Genuine VLT should be Brown top and these are Green. May do the job, but most likely a different cc rating.
