I haven't updated this thread in a little while, mainly because not alot has
changed on the car. I've recently had a little boy and I have another project that I've been working on (60's custom).

How it looks at the moment...

What has changed though is the 'ceptors are currently black and have been
for the last 12 or so months, currently considering a change back to silver
though, thoughts?

The rear window venetians are also now black which I prefer over the white,
as they don't stand out as much and there's no glare.

The other night I installed an Autometer monster tacho which I had laying
around from a previous car, figured I may as well use it and well, all
N/A 3lt's need a monster tacho ha.

Hoping this weekend to get the sunvisor resprayed, respray the rims (once I
decide on silver or a fresh coat of black) and respray and fit a new rear bar
that I have as the current one is the original and has several scuff
marks, minor cracks etc.

Back to silver...

... Looking at it now, I'm wondering why I went black in the first place.
Also resprayed a new rear bar and got that on after this pic was taken,
Should be getting around to buffing the whole car today and respraying the visor.

I have a question, I recently picked up another VL sedan to build a mock-up
BT1 (will start a thread on it when I start work on it), it has a couple of 15x7
'ceptors with 235 tyres. I was considering putting them on the rear of
the Vacationer. As a daily driver, will I run into trouble without rolling the
guards? The guards aren't rolled on the other VL and it currently sits
on it's a*se as it seems to have chopped rear springs, the tyres are very close to the guards on it but they aren't touching.

Whilst I'm here, a photo I took last night at Port Melb, not entirely happy with it but yeah.

Thanks bud, slowly working on getting the interior completely finished at the
moment. Recently picked up a red SL s/wheel to replace the brown Calais one that's
currently in it but I need a horn pad. Also picked up some red headrests for the rear
but need the pole things that go in the seat so they don't sit loosely.

Then I'll take some interior photos, been putting it off until I could get it closer to
finished.

Got hit in the side the other day, nothing too major though.

Bit p*ssed off as the women who hit me trying to turn right on a
roundabout from the outside lane whilst I was next to her
didn't even hold an Australian license.

Luckily the door will be able to be repaired rather than replaced
as replacing it will result in losing the pinstripes.

I did have the car up for sale for a while, I am considering keeping it
now and just dropping in a carby'd 308... Need to think about it some
more though.

Thanks bud, yeah I never painted the silver properly I just sprayed over the black
and I had to keep repainting them as the silver wore easily, so I got sick of it and went
back to black. I know it isn't evryones cup of tea but personally I don't mind it.

To be honest I'm not sure, there are alot of Vacationer wagon's getting around, but I
haven't seen another sedan (with the stripes in place anyway). I was actually talking to a panelbeater the other day about it when I went to get a quote for the rear door.

He questioned me as to whether I put the stripes on using NOS wagon stickers because he'd been in the business 30+ years and never seen one but I assured him it's a factory
Vacationer sedan.

So I'm guessing pretty rare(?) at least seeing as the stripes are still in place and in near
mint condition, but I wouldn't value it any higher than a clean SL.

Glad you kept it...with time you woulda kicked yourself for parting with it.

I've seen worst damage on other VLS and turned out just fine.

Think I saw your car on the net a while back; carsales I think it was.

Probably saw it on Gumtree, I think that's the only place I had it advertised outside of
CT. It wasn't on there long though, I got sick of all the Nigerian emails and 2am txt
messages.

Well nothing's really changed but it's been a while since I've put up photos of it.
Took these last week, haven't fixed the damage as yet. A little bit over it now though,
I might be interested in swapping it for something pre-75 chrome bumper with rwc...

Jeez I haven't checked this thread for a while hah, thanks MUS.

I still haven't gotten around to fixing the damage but I'm not too worried about it
as I'm trying to preserve the exterior, not restore it. I will be keeping the car however
and not selling it as I've previously mentioned.

Once I go back to full time work I think a factory turbo set up may be on the cards
as well as a manual conversion as the auto is starting to slip and is on its way out
anyway.

I'm putting the silver 'ceptors with red rim tape back on all round, I just need two new
tyres so ignore the Stato wheels currently on the front.

Oh and I also moved the viso up higher and I hink it looks better, previously
the top of the visor was in line with the top of the screen but it always bugged me
with how it sat. So now the top of te vsr is in live with were the chrom A-pillar
gutter strips meet the roof gutter strips (moved up around an inch) I think
it looks alot better.

Visor* Think*
**top of the visor
*chrome

Time for a new keyboard I think.....

A couple of weeks ago, the auto decided it was going to stick itself in
overdrive and stay there, that's not practical and it was on it's last legs
anyway so I decided to go manual. It worked out cheaper than it would have
been to put a reco'd auto in, and drive's much better with the 5 speed, runs
cooler, has more go than before too.

The direction the car's now sort of going in is kind of Euro/JDM inspired,
with the added yellow foglights under the front, I'm on the look out
for some dished BMW rims to fit on it, nothing over the top
just something to give it a nice offset, with a little added negative camber.

I'll get some front King Springs shortly to bring the nose out of the sky,
thinking about a black lip spoiler too but I'll try things, see what I think looks okay, not too bothered if others don't like it though.
