(New Daily) 1988 Vacationer Sedan

So I decided it was time to pull my other VL off the road for a full rebuild, and in the mean time I needed a nice clean daily, and so here goes...

Make: Holden.
Model: '88 Series II Vacationer Sedan.
Colour: Alpine White.
Interior: SL Series II, Cerulean.

History: It was an accidental find, really. The guy I bought it off had only had it 5 months and had done no mods and hardly drove it, before him it had one elderly owner since new. It came with full receipts and service history including dealer papers from when it was originally purchased from Holden.

The car itself is absolutely immaculate inside and out, and drives and handles like new, even still has the one speaker tape deck... But who needs a radio? I'm very happy with it to say the least. Anyway, some pics..

This is what it looked like when I got it home last night... (sorry for quality, sh*tty pics my sis took.)

...After the pics were taken I managed to get my Interceptors on, my venetians in and Berlina taillights in.

This morning I took the rear Ultra's and shocks out of my other VL and put them in this, as well as my exhaust. (2.5 into 3 inch dump). And also got my exterior sunvisor painted and on. They're the only real mods I'm doing to it, I want to keep it very original and very clean. I'm yet to decide on whether to take the Vacationer pinstripes off or leave them on though...

Some pics I took today...

...That's all for now, I'll post up some more pics soon.

---------- Post added 30-01-11 at 13:03 ----------

Couple more pics I took yesterday, I'll get some of the interior and that up later.

Thanks mate, yeah I'm afraid if I were to take the pinstriping off,
I wouldn't be able to get replacements if I wanted them back.

I've started putting the stereo in, ran the wires a couple of weeks back,
and after a long time trying to work out where to hide the speakers to keep it stock looking,
last night I decided to give up and just put them in the parcel shelf.
Now all I have to do is get that f*cking pain in the arse of a factory headunit out...

Anyway, whilst I'm here, couple more photos I took today...

If You get stuck in taking the old tape deck out, there's a thread in the audio section.
Can't remember what the actual name of the thread is but it's in there.

After about 3 hours of struggle, I finally got the factory headunit out.
Hardly in one piece, but out nonetheless.
Spent another 2 hours trying to work out why I had no power to the amp.
Found the problem - faulty earth. I'll fix that tomorrow,
put everything back together then I should have a semi-decent radio.

Also tomorrow I'll be servicing the car and getting my extractors on.
I'll get more pics at some stage over the weekend.

Serviced it Friday, didn't manage to get the extractors on yet though.
But I do have a working CD player now, so that's one win.
Drove four hours to Beechworth yesterday and four hours home, didn't miss a beat.

Whilst I'm here, a pic I took today...

Really need to give it a good clean though.

Just a few things I might as well add...

I now have everything needed to put my red interior in this apart from a
steering wheel, so if I can't find one I'll be getting the original blue one
upholstered in red matching fabric.

I'll shortly be getting the bonnet resprayed as well as it has crows feet in
parts and a few stone chips (Neither of which are very noticable but I know
they're there).

I've also detailed and cleaned up the engine bay, pics coming.

Looking nice mate, looks really neat. The chasers suit it well Loving the red interior.. id love some for mine.
Failing a red steering wheel, get a nice after market one. Not a super cheap auto special.. but i really like my momo one.

Keep it up and keep us posted

Thanks bud, I have a woodgrain s/wheel here which I'm considering putting in until I can find a red one to replace it.
At least that way I can get the red interior in as I'm itching to get it in and
it's taking up space while it's not in a car.

Just a couple of photos...

This is the blue interior that's currently in it...

And what's going in it... At the moment just looks like a sea of red, but it's all
in really good condition. Temporarily stored in my SL until I can get it in the
Vaca' shortly.
