Beautiful calais Jacko.... your doing a terrific job, fantastic attention to detail.
polished calais wheels and the ride hight sets it off mate. A+

Remeber this..... simplicity and authentisity is the go!
Your lucky you have tinting experience maybe get a factory looking bottle blue green tint?

I think you should get rid of the seppo walls, and hdt and turbo badges....... this is just fraud pal.

Cheers Guys, finally good to see everyone noticing the detail and how clean it actually is, is a lot better in person. But at this stage i love the walls, too me it was just a like too naked when i didn't have them. But it did look very tuff/standard look. Took the Turbo badge off, but i like the HDT to add a small piece of authenticity and difference. Slowly going to start making the trim/interior as mint as possible. The front leathers aren't in the best shape, hence why it has seat covers and throw overs. Will get them redone whenever im happy with everything else. But chasing a s2 console lid, a new dash piece that goes over the cluster and air vents. And that's about it for the interior. But next im going to restore the rear garnish and the boot and side trim above it. Might even get some new taillights to finish it off. I have a Holden badge restored ready to go on the garnish, but maybe tossing up between leaving no badges on the strip.. only the Calais one on the garnish.

But if anyone has porta walls, please give me some tips to clean them, wax and grease remover works ok, as well as metho, but its takes foreveeerrrrrr to clean and they get dirty around 2 days after i clean them.

But anyways got the Falcon and its mechanically mint, absolutely nothing wrong with the running gear and its very smooth to drive. Eats the juice a little bit but they can be quiet reliable if they haven't been trashed. But from now i doubt the Calais will be out much. Probably once every few weeks or more.

Oh and i need to do spray the black around the doors and windows. But thats about it haha.

Out of curiosity, how much do you think the Calais is worth? Check page one if you guys want to know all the specs.. i update it every time i change something.

Cheers
Jako.

spend the dollars on the Calais not the taxi
Especially considering the amount of hard work you have put into the Calais.

Might go back to factory Black handles.

And the White Walls are just under 2.5cm, so around 23-24mm

Mate that is one of the cleanest Calais' ive seen in a while
Great job in keeping it neat but with a few sweet touches (in my opinion the calais wheels with whitewalls are horn!)
And considering you're still a P Plater! lucky as

But put more money and focus into the VL, dont worry about your daily so much, those falcons if looked after will run forever.
Anyway, thats just my 2 cents worth. Keep it up

Cheers mate, and yeah not spending a cent on the falcon, except general maintenance.

Can't wait till my new wheels turn up, will use the Calais rims for when i go on long trips etc which is around once a year to Brissy. Plus now having the falcon and recently getting 2 jobs haha the Calais never gets driven, which is great because i can save for it. But i do drive it every now and then, probably once a fortnight. Sleeps in the shed under a car cover.

Cheers guys for all the comments it just needs a turbo now, but done the proper way, im thing going GKTECH hidden intercooler, But im slowly going to do the conversion kit so im thinking it wont be done for around 2 years. In no rush.

Will get pics up when i get the wheels )))

---------- Post added 03-10-12 at 21:43 ----------

Found these photos. These for the 'For Sale' photos of the car when it was on Gum tree back in 2009. Bought the car a week later haha. Calais fully stock, except wheels and tint

Its still in the same condition, if not better. Enjoy

You have definitely improved it immeasurably since you bought it. Something really special now. Good luck with the turbo conversion.

Got the new wheels, 1 has been machined to fit pre VE, the rest ill need to get done. Going to get them resprayed, unsure of what colour. They have had a respray in Thunder Grey, but its not the best job so in the next few months will get them redone in either that colour or the Factory silver they come in?? At this stage will have to get the back guards rolled. Has good tread on the tyres, however they are 225/35/20s which is a irregular fitment for 20s. But will do the job.

They are Genuine Supersports. Heres a snap. Just fitted this one for a photo, Still rolling on the Calais wheels obviously till the Sports get machined.

Stop doing awesome things to your car, I feel the need to compliment and end up looking like a postwhore I love supersports - probably my favourite Commodore wheel. As you are going to spray them anyway have you considered asteroid silver in order to match the lower plastics? I have never seen it done. Just a thought.

Awesome idea, and my mate suggested it as well. Wont get them done till around Christmas as there's no rush to do so. But yeah good thinking. I'm keen to get them machined so i can put all of them on. I got some "Rimskins" for them. Will post up a pic soon. Since they have no gutter rash, thought id get them just in case they do get little marks on them, plus they look sweet. But iwill be keeping these wheels for a long time, next set in the future would be FR's. But not till its turbo'd.

---------- Post added 08-10-12 at 22:35 ----------

The masking tape on the wheel is just for me to identify that this one is one of the fronts.
