The White one...

Well - my NA Calais was first rear ended by a Police car in Subiaco and then a Landcruiser reversed into the front end. Insurance companies didn't think it was worth fixing so I got some money

I picked up an '87 White over Silver VLCT roller from dceptv last week.
New paint, new LSD diff, VT brakes, sweet interior.

I had earlier paid a visit to KYP Jap Importers on Welshpool. I managed to pick up a Series 2 RB25DET motor/gearbox/loom/ecu etc combo for a good price - best of all it had only 20k on the clock!

So you can guess the story - RB25DET will make its way into engineless VLC and they all live happily after. Or I can tell you the rest.....

Work got in the way - which meant I couldn't do any work on it, but as soon I was free I got stuck into it.

Spend a day prepping the motor to suit the VL.
The RB25 needs a VL S1 power steering pump, VL engine mounts, VL radiator fan - I even bolted on a VL aircon bracket, which meant changing the harmonic balancer too. VL water temp and oil pressure sensors go on too.

Painted the rocker covers wrinkle red for that 'factory VLCT look'

Removed bonnet and front end off the Calais and gave the engine bay a good clean

Bit of wiring was done - to suit the VL battery loom etc. Oil pressure sensor and Alternator wires were run together with the engine loom.

When everything was ready I dropped the motor and box in, did some dodgy wiring and gave it a quick test fire to make sure I'd done it right....

And of course it worked - fired up almost straight away
Vid here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMqhfEKmN-8 (7:30am no exhaust - I hope the neighbours were already out of bed)

Slowly been working through it - waiting for the intercooler kit to arrive so I can install it, need my exhaust modified very slightly, need a custom power steering and clutch lines, then I can take it for a spin around the block.

Last vid for now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxpHP0Vfsjw

Keep you posted.........

Not bad at all man - R31 forums has all the info - this is the only page I looked at for assistance -
http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/index...ET_into_an_R31

Only thing is at the moment my constant 12v is off the stereo - everything else is off the Blue and black plugs under the dash where the vl ecu plugs in. I thought the orange wire on the blue plug was supposed to be 12v constant but its only giving me 4v ??? I'll have to do some investigating......

How did you go with the engine to box supports? mine was touching the steering rack! i had to do some grinding!
I also made up a mount bracket for the accelerator!

Are you using the standard Brake booster/mc with vt brakes?

Yeah mate I'm using a custom dump/engine pipe that I've had sitting around for a couple of years - was made for a standard VL turbo, but it fits fine and doesnt touch on anything

Daily might actually be the bike (ZX12R)

And the cop's supervisor said he was going to face some disciplinary action...

Yeah I had a look - the bracket was sitting on the powersteering rack, so I touched it up with the angle grinder

Also for the Constant 12v feed that I was looking for, I just did what the RB30's have from factory - I used the orange fuse wire thats connected to the battery's positive terminal and ran a cable back through the firewall with the rest of the engine loom. No worries
