EPA'd....anyone northern suburbs...help?

So....

Got an EPA in the mail today, need to have car tested to pass noise...lol.

Just wondering if anyone located around the northern suburbs would have a 'quiet' catback twin system (suit 5L VQ) that I could hire or something to pass the test if it comes to that. I've only got 1 muffler on each pipe after hi-flow cats and there's no chance it'll pass. I'm gonna ring the local exhaust place soon and suss out fitting a flanged tail pipe with big muffler, but thought I'd see if anyone round here might be able to help if need be.

I figured VIC section was best place for this as well.

Cheers,

Matt.

yeah he's on the other side of town but he made up a re stricter plate thing that went inside your exhaust next to your muffler to reduce sound...

either you could use his, or get one made up the same..

Ahk cool.

I've already thought of that, but they're probably gonna realise somethings up when it's only got 2 mufflers on the whole system and passes, lol. I'd be pissed if i had to go back a second time coz they had a sook over something lol.

An exhaust shop should be able to make you something that would pass for a couple of hundred bucks.

my mate had a vl stroker 355 loud as f u c k. he got done aswell. so he made up a plate that went in between the cat and exhaust, drilled a few holes in it did the cat back up got it tested and got away with it. all the tester is worried about is the reading not wot u have done 2 make it quiet. after all they get paid for doin it and they are not at all connected 2 the epa. oh and when my mate had finished gettin tested the bloke laughed and said yacan take the plate out now...lol

Cheers for the help I've received guys!

Yeah GAS this was from the start of the month in the city on Russell Street, the last night (unlucky!!) of that operation pipedown. Saw the cop standing in the middle of the intersection with his pad and realised thats what he was doing so I just idled past downhill and as soon as he saw the car he started walking towards me and then straight out on the road behind me so I'd just been waiting for it to turn up.

Just when I'd started to think that it wasn't gonna show up and BAM! lol.

LOL!

Mine also arrived yesterday. 10:45pm was my time, I was on my way to the casino with a couple of mates and it completely wrecked my night when I knew I'd been written down, lol.

Honestly, why do they bother? All those letters they mail out at 55c each with no money going back to them from the tests, talk about throwing money away lol.

Thanks for the offer BW....I'll shoot you a pm.

I found one of these ****ing letters in the letter box yesterday, mines for noise as well. Anyway it's a vl and all it has is a 2 and a 1/2" cat back, single muffler, "mild steel" I think? Everything else is stock (ie cat, headers...). It's an ebay spec 180 dollar cat back if that makes a difference.

Sooo my question is has anyone passed in a similar situation? Coz I would rather not go through the trouble of the plate after the cat if it's possible.
