I say don't bother with going to the point of completely stripping out your car back to bare metal, its a total waste of your time and at the end of the day, if it aids in you pulling a 15.5 then all good and well but your also still only driving a stock VL... its no top fueller or anything so if you pull a 15.5 and brag about it, you're only kidding yourself because unless you want to do that every time then you won't get that time again.
HA HA HA... that is a good argument Rob...

why do most serious street drag cars run slicks and race fuel at the drags man ?
I swear probably a third of all the cars out there run slicks and front runners as well as race fuel too.
The rajabs claim their car to be a street/drag, which it is, but i bet it wouldn't pull a 9 second run with 2 guys in it, no race fuel and street tyres..

whats wrong with takin out the backseat ?
if u cant afford slicks or awesome fuel. why not look for other areas to maybe gain some hundredths or tenths ?

IF the old JVL 87 was to race the way it drove around during the week, it would be pulling 19 -22 second passes.. as it would most likely include (sterio gear, spare wheel, his entire clothing collection, cd's, and a whole bunch of other ****)

anyway this is kinda pointless.. but u do get my point dont u.. WE GO TO THE DRAGS TO GO AS FAST AS POSSIBLE WITH WHAT WE HAVE. If u have the extra time to do little things like remove weight from the car and do a few lil mods.. why not ???

well i have nothing good to say, but i will waste your time

Quote:
Just race it the way you would drive it.... not only is it fair on the others, but wouldn't you get more satisfaction about being able to brag a decent time in stock form, rather than a pathetic time in a gutted car?
ouch

1 word - BBQ

i might race, depends if i have tyres and suspension by then, moneys slow, and with all the rain down here i need tyres bad, altho can be fun when u have no control what so ever

Yeah sorry bout that guys....

I've had a **** week at work and was just venting it on whoever.

I can understand why you want to go so fast... I'd love to strip the VS, throw slicks on, and run low times but working a 10 hour day just doesn't allow for it.

Yeah exactly Rob..
I personally have the time on w/e's etc to play around with jays car, as in doin little things and then stripping it out a bit for the drags.. it deosnt even take long man, i dont know why u get so worked up about removing a back seat ey.. takes literally 30 seconds if u know what ur doin ?

as for the parcel shelf with speakers.. literally another 1 minute.
boot carpet and spare wheel come out in just under 30 seconds and a chage of rear wheels can be done at 2 minutes per wheel with 2 helpers.

chill pill man.. maybe u should pull ur finger out and give the 'VS' a little workover before u come to the next test'n'tune, should guarantee a 15 then ey mate, specially if strippin it out makes so much difference. lol
hahahaha

CANT WAIT GUYS>> i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED

Nah i couldn't be f**ked taking it all out...

And AAMI the SL*T won't let me lower the car, add a steerer, or go extractors...

So basically i have to ditch AAMI before the cruise and add the gear.

Anyway i can't wait either...

And the track won't be open again before the 7th so its probably going to be very busy.

Im considering dropping the exhaust this time, tho my mechanic said that it may make it go slower because i only have a small cam in at the moment (V8) and it needs some back pressure to make it work so ill see how energetic i feel on the day. My back seat and spare will be coming out this time too.

cya's there Dale

Does taking the back seat out really make that much difference? i mean whats it weigh? about 10kg? i mean when you have a car thats already well over a ton, surely a back seat wouldn't make THAT much difference...

Excuse my ignorance on the matter.

haha rob..
wight is everything my man... although a backseat only weighs about 4 kilos max.. it all helps..

takin out the backseat, parcel shelf with speakers, boot carpet & underlay as well as the spare tyre.... and then running not so much fuel in the tank.. all helps man..

unless of course u have a car with such monsterous HP that u need the weight to gain traction.. not that any Na vl's goning really do, no offence to anyone.

but yeah.. rob get over the whole weight reduction idea.. if u wanna prove if it makes a difference.. run ur car with all it in.. strip it and then run it again.. if the run and track conditions were pretty much the same and u went 3 tenths faster.. there's ur answer..

Anyway its next w/e.... whos actually going ?
Yes or No ? that is the question.

Hey I have an idea Rob.. instead of removing the back seat.. maybe u should just move the numberplate over to the side of the bumper like u did on ur N/A vl for increased airflow through the radiator ?

just a thought.. u dont seem too keen on the backseat idea so i thought i'd just point u in a new direction of thought !
The cooler the motor the faster youll go

bye !
Ollie

Hahahaha good one....

I like it.

I was thinking more along the lines of a few strategically placed P Plates. They seem to add about 20kw at the wheels from what i've heard
