should be going for a run late jan i reckon, all things considered, probably have a run in tune then get a feel for the car before i decide to belt it.

how fast is the minimums for getting kicked out without certian precautions? ill be in a non caged non shaft looped etc just stocker with a few hundred hp.

planning on praticing on the 1/8th really, try and get some good 60fters and 1/8ths in, thinking ill get it up in 2nd and change to 3rd early and start to get on the breaks early untill i've got it all sussed, not expecting to do very well, but i want my shifts and launch down pat before i try and go real quick.

really just need to sus some slicks soon, probably get some front runners too.

It depends on what night you run and who is watching and officiating etc in terms of how soon you get kicked out.

If you have moved the battery to a different location other than the factory position, then you immediately need an isolation cut-off switch.

If you run quicker than 12.00 (1/4 mile) or 7.70 (1/8 mile) then you need a minimum of a 4 point harness and driving suit.

I wouldn't bother going out there and trying to do a good launch and then just do an 1/8th mile. Just go out there and give it all on each and every race and then you have the whole 1/4 mile information to analyse. Imagine going out there and doing a night full of awesome launches and 1/8 mile times, then to come back the next week and something breaks.

You can still get kicked out for going too fast on the 1/8 mile also. How annoyed would you be if the 1/8 mile indicated that you were going to do a 10 or 11 sec pass but because you backed off, you only got a good 1/8 mile, yet you got booted and had to go and get huge amounts of safety gear including harness, battery isolator, tailshaft loop, trans blanket, andra licence, possilby full fireproof clothing, roll cage etc etc. All of this extra safety gear also adds weight, so replicating the time that was done previously may be proved harder again.

There are many things to consider and learn, but as long as you are prepared to get kicked out if you are doing good times, and as long as you are aware that the officials are only just doing their job as its an ANDRA officiated track, then go out and have some fun Jack and try to get that illusive time which you desire, whatever that may be.

All the necessary safety requirements are basically purely judged by the official at the time of scrutineering. If the official is thorough and abides by every single ANDRA rule, then alot of cars would not be able to race or would do one race and be kicked out for doing too fast for various reasons eg no isolator switch or tailshaft loop etc.

You can take a chance, but be prepared if they don't allow you to race. With the isolator switch, you probably would get away with it and you would be told to make sure you have one next time. But again, depends on the official/scrutineer.

gday. yeh i'm the one who bought joels car.
he was an honest bloke and i'm happy with the car. hyperdrive did a dodgy wiring job with the ems, there was a relay on constant power that was draining the battery. i also think the guy who did the rb25 conversion in tasmania was a bit shoddy but thats kinda to be expected with backyard jobs. the wiring has been fixed, if it was left like that through summer i'm quite sure it would've had an electrical fire, the relay was really hot under constant power.

thanks to my friend, almost all the instruments are working again, dash lights, boost gauge light, indicator, horn, oil pressure etc. aside from that there was a vacuum leak behind the dash and coming from the boost controller. there's still one from the plenum which is making the boost come on slower than normal but it should be fixed soon. today i began pulling the turbo off to replace it with a highflow. it was a bit of a let down only running a 15.3 at the track, but the car isnt completely to blame, i'm a **** driver and it doesnt have lsd. i ran it on 205's and got alot of single pegger action. once the bugs are ironed out and its tuned and i manage to get hold of an lsd i'll run it again and see if i can get a half decent time. i'm not planning on making it a race or show car, just a clean daily with no corners cut. i would be happy if it dips into the 13's on an unopened motor.

/essay

cheers lads
might see ya round some time
