yes it is quite interesting thankyou, its marketed as the best flowing plenum on the market for an rb30, and whilst it looks big and ugly, when you look up close there is a massive ammount of work gone into it, i should have taken photos inside of it before it got put in, maybe someone could shed some light on what they cost new, but i was under the impression they run between $1500 and $2k theres a few guys on here use them, and a theres a wild rb30 torrie i saw about 2 years ago runs one of these too.

Exactly why i think its interesting, looks like lots of thought went into its design... not just a mass fabricated one...

as best as i can work out, due to the runner lengths etc, there is an even distance between where the air enters on all cylinders, i think thats how i can describe it,

from looking at the trumpets inside, it looks like it is exactly the same or close taking into account that the air has to run all the way to the back to reach the last runner, and the last runner is by far the shortest.

i mentioned before i read on these forums due to the size and amount of air it can flow, it should give a higher power rating than other after market designs, at the expense of a little bit of lag.

anyway, andrew sanders of Specialized Power Porting is pretty commonly known name for the scene, espeicaly for vls, and this is his own design, i just got it second hand not knowing too much about it a year and a bit ago.

It's started! Heard it run over the phone today, pretty excited now. They are just ironing out a couple of issues with fuses and the tps. Then it's time for me to put the dash back together and make the front bumper fit. So ready for the run in fun haha.

Congrats Jack. Fingers are crossed for you. Can't wait to see the full power tune and then get your thoughts on driving the car. You will certainly enjoy driving a powerful VL around....its so much fun.

just bumping this up with some fresh photos.

everything is pretty much 99% done. just a few last little things to do, then guages need to be mounted and then its time for a run in tune.

heard it run today, was a bit messy and chucking fuel out the back (its untuned obviously) but sounds nice, like its got balls, cant wait to cruise in it.

not going to lie, i have dreams about it every night now...

anyway, last pics till its running, i PROMISE

and me and dad put the dash in today, i did it 90% by memory, pretty amazed, yeah obviously there are a few extra screws here and there, but all in all pretty happy with the result, looks like a car inside for the first time in over a year

whats wrong with the washer bottle! i think the dodgey paint on the washer gives it character and a rustic edge.

most definatly be getting rid of it, but right now im focusing on the things that arent working, before i start replacing working things because they arent visualy appealing...

haha, well you'd hope so

masssive step up from a standard (and relatively boring/slow) setup. The first time you leave the shop with lots of boost and "gun it" you'll have a nice big grin! 35/40 is very quick for the streets and enough to get you fairly scared, and makes you really aware of what's going on. I was probably more careful with more power etc because I knew that it could all turn to sh*t in a blink of an eye

you're very lucky you've done all this pretty quick! Using the standard motor isn't it, or did you also get it rebuilt (just out of curiosity, not that it matters really, as std can handle plenty)

Hahaha yeah Mate I'm not going to lie I'm pretty scared of how much of a performance difference there will be, going to take it very slow on the tune up, get used to the power etc. Run it in, then get a decent tune. Maybe 1 bar of boost to get used to it for a few months, then go for 22+ psi tune and get the power going.

And no. It's not the standard motor, bought a worked head. Ported, oversize valves big cam etc etc. Basicaly all you want for a street single cam, then seperately bought a built bottom end, 20 thou forged pistons h beams arp studs basicaly again, a whole built package. Just both were second hand. Got a big sump etc etc, didn't want to skimp on the motor, should be more than strong enough to last a long time. Original plans just wanted it functional, didn't care about shiney bits under the hood, but lee worked his polishing magic and made it look how it does. Obviously not a show car bay. Still needs a lot of tidying up.

speaking of lee and working in engine bays, what's he charge nowadays for wiring/making engine bays "look neater" (whatever the heck is involved)?

We'll be able to get my motor into my engine, but doubt my mates can be f*cked dealing with hooking everything up and making it look relatively tidy.

ffs fk'n cars f*ck off

im not so sure what he charges for a job like that, since i havent really had it done, i've had to have a new loom etc wired in, he does have a "wiring guy" who does all that stuff, met him today actually, he helped me figure out where to put my tacho. infact im not sure what this is all costing me at all yet haha, waiting for the killer bill.

probably be better off giving him a ring, he's done a great job cleaning it all for me so far, but thats becuase most of it had to either be rerouted wiring or fabricated from scratch.

booked in for the run in at rotos end of the week, hopefuly have it by thursday arvo, thats assuming A nothing goes wrong and B i find the last bits of cash somewhere... considering prostitution, you can find my number on this site...

going from nightmares where the car is **** and i crash it one night, to dreams the next where its still a vl turbo underneath, but i've done a full lamborghini body conversion, but now i cant see over the steering wheel and am going to crash.

Don't worry Chad, you'll forget about how much you've spent, money will be a thing of the past! (once you're driving that thing sensibly on our roads)

good to see another bombed vl turbo hitting WA road's...I might need to actually pop into a cruise and have a looksie

What? Just because I don't have a VL at the moment means I can't appreciate other peoples good fortune?
