It means that the car has been involved in an accident where the insurance company chose to write it off as it wouldnt have been worth repairing. Just means its been in an accident and someone has repaired it and re-registered it.
Personally I wouldnt buy one like that but depending on the value of the car and getting a proper racv check done it may be worth doing.

EG: If someone crashed into a VL chances are its going to be written off due to high repair costs and low car value. Doesnt necessarily mean its a dodgy car.

hmmm ok so for $25,000 it must have been a fair big accident then for it to be declared a repairable write off?

this is the rig,i sent him a msg about it and he said it was inspected 2 years ago and only needed a door and guard changed??? but i would have thought it would have been a bigger accident for them to write it off?

man they wouldnt write a car off if it only needed a door and guard unless it was a gemini..

get it inspected profesionally.. you know any panel beaters that will check it out,, they will know straight away if its not worth it..

if its good to go then get him as close to the 20k mark as you can.. because he never mentioned its been written off so he;s already hiding crap

a old car of mine was classed as a repairable writeoff and all that was damaged was the tailgate... the guy had the choice to repair it or not he choose not to and got paid out instead...

the damage has to be 70 percent or 75 i think of the value of the car to write it off. or they will fix a car ask any panel shop. unless some one done a stupidly high quote to right it off

dont be put off by it being a repairable rightoff, have it inspected with the cost of merc parts it might have been just that or the owner really pushed to have it written off rather than repaired. My mate's vu ss was a repairable rightoff it was stolen recovered missing interior wheels and kit only and it was put on the list, ive seen some cars with very minor damage put on the list too all comes down to the assesor and the owner

It's going to be classed as a write off if the insurance company can save cash, thats what it comes down to.
A mate got his VY SS repaired to the sum of $20,000 and they valued it at $28000 at the time. Therefore they have saved themselves $8000 and his ute was never the same.

there are alot of guys who buy alot of repairable rightoff's have them fixed and sell them at a profit, they mostly arent panel beaters just guys out to make a buck tax free on the side

my mum stacked her camry a few weeks ago,
damage consisted of a broken front bar, bonnet, lights and radiator supports which equalled about 1000 in parts & paint and roughly the same in labour
cars market value is about 5000, so the damage was under 50% of the cars value and they still wrote it off

insurance company's are pieces of sh1t, worked out easier for them to write the car off then find a repairer, left my mum with a cancelled/suspended rego and having to get a roadworthy and viv which leaves her out of pocket another 1000

5000 i think

in the end she should still come out on top cash wise but its just the head fcuk of going through the VIV, roadworthy and re-regoing it

So she got paid market value for it instead of getting a repair. Sounds good to me! Go buy a new car and scrap the other one!

if the car is 15 years or older, you don't need a VIV.

you can just register them like you normally would.

is it currently registered?

if so should be ok and not need inspecting now, that would have been a prev issue
