Yeah thats was when I got my 3.45's changed to 3.7's . Best thing I did with that setup going 3.7's. I will still keep them for this V8 setup.

Friday arvo , got the call. The powerglide & the 3k stall is ready to be picked up.

Hopefully the motor will be in early next month. Just got to see how the funds are holding up, due to me booking my Super GP unit.

Richie good stuff and good to see ls1 in vl's-

cubes and torque go hand in hand-

back to the point- i see you are running the comp 918 springs............hmm-

some have had good luck with them and the rest have **** engines- but i put duals in all my engines-

being a turbo engine i would want around 155-165 pounds on the seat and over 410-425 on the open.

with boost it might aid the fight against float-from what i seen and worked on-

ls1 weakest link is springs and rod bolts and oil pumps when going over 6500rpm-

oh okay that will be fine with those springs even though i dont like them....

but if you step up to 10 psi+ put some good springs in it

Its not about boost, its about air flow or cubic feet per minuite at a certain turbo shaft speed.
8 psi on a 4202 on a 5.7 ltr engine would be a similar shaft speed too a 3 ltr engine but the 3 ltr will have 20 psi at the same cfm

Boost is boost-

so the way to look at it on a ls1 is that turbo +346 cube's is not a 346 anymore-

increase of cylinder pressure or cubes is the name of the game-

but the downfall is that the more you increase the boost on a big engine is more it will suck the flow rating out of any turbo........

It still balances out which ever way you look at it-

Dropped the box and cam off to mild to wild today. motor , mounts , PCM and Turbo will be dropped off this weekend. The following weekend the car will be there to get started on dropping the Ls1 into the VL.

the proof is in the pudding (or however that saying goes lol) with the LS1s!
TUFCAB runs a standard LS1 with valve springs and pumps our 400rwkw+ on low boost with a carb setup! and already have a built driveline and fuel system makes things much easier

Just noticed this thread & was having a read.........

Look i had both an rb turbo & ls1 turbo i would put the ls1 at the top for sure.
i am also the new owner of tuf cab which is now ls1 pwr & is efi not carby

tuf cab also had a camshaft & wasnt on low boost it was running 12-13psi just remember a ls1's compression ratio is 10.4

reguradless of engine it all comes down to the tuner they may well be the most important people in the build cos if they put to much timing in cos there chasing a dyno figue for you reguradless if its built or std any engine will go bang......

ls1 pwr is making 419rwkw on 12.5psi still with the cheapo ebay turbo+w/gate
(specs are close to a gt42) with just valve springs & a safe tune f**k all tuning cos just remember 1 bad batch of fuel & its all over.
also for the record lol it did make 384rwkw with the std valve springs & run 10.08@136mph on et streets,98 fuel & full exhaust, yet to run with the v/springs & retune but 9's here i come

the one in tuf cab with the carby set-up was 236/236 @ 112 which is really a n/a cam not boost friendly
& im not sure about your beening boost friendly either ? mayb if the lobe sep is 114 if its 112 then u'll loose boost......

mines got a power glide in it with a 3000 stally......

also im in the process of doing my bros vs ute which we have just started but it will be running a gt42 with a gts spec cam which is
213/223 @ 116 it small but it was already in the engine & do work well with boost. His will be running a 4spd auto cos its his daily.

What's the lift and LSA dude? That'll sound f*cking tough as anything and is a good NA cam but I'm not sure how it'll go with a big turbo!
