Project GMH.737 RB30ET to LS1 T51r

Hey everyone just thought i'd start a thread about my project ive just started, im putting an Ls1 out of either a VY or VZ SS in my VLC. Its gonna be auto cause i lost a wing in a moto accident and then im strapping a T51r to the side .

The aim of all of this is to have a very tidy VLC which i can run some very nice times on the strip. Gotta have a look on ANDRA yet to see if I can run a 10 or under with 1 arm.

Anyways just to kick things off ive got a few photos to throw up and then i need some help on what i need to buy to make the conversion less of a headache like;

What Ls1 is the best to buy when it comes to the sump and where the bowl is so i dont have to get the sump modified?

I will be getting EFI performance/mild2wild to do the conversion and turbo and everything actually, just waiting for my payout from my moto accident.















And here is my mates torry where my Rb30 and auto is going if i cant sell it.

Like Cameron said Scotty, you will need more than "2" arm's to hold this combo straight on the street.

Looking forward to this build, i know of another customer doing a LS1 turbo combo..........

hahahahaha yeah it will be a challenge thats for sure but i reckon im up for it

Yeah selling engine A8 complete, auto and everything to make it run.

3" mandrel bent exhaust is for sale aswell.

Oh yeah i cant wait to get me money so i can get it under way.

Yeah he bloody would alright but he'd never save up enough to get it done lol, he just wans to go RB30ET with motec/haltec/wolf and a decent auto.

will be pretty damn fast considering how light they are, trying to get him to pull his finger out and get it started.

Hey does anyone know what power steering rack will fit in a LC/J torry???

thats gonna be one strong arm man, good luck, ls1's in vl's are the shiz. hope u're getting a big payout, (probably are considering u've lost a wing). i was turned off putting a ls1 into a bmw 535 recently, 10k quotes turned into 15k quotes, so now im over it.

that torana and ur engine conversion should go well.

Yeah man should be enough for a lot of things including a house hopefully.

hahahaha yeah my arms already pretty strong seeing how i do EVERYTHING with it now lol, but i was sliding the calais around in the wet with 1 arm alright but be interesting to see how all this goes.

Just cant wait to get it started, stripping the rest of the bay tomoz and getting it all cleaned up ready to do some hole filling and sanding

So how is yours coming along mate?

also do you mind if i ask you some questions on what i'll need ect.

im gonna pick up a written off vy ss from the auctions and get the boltin kit from crs but is there anything else that wll make it easier or have you done yours custom. like power steering ect.

you will need a

Ls1 is a good start
VL-VK V8 K-frame
starter re-locater
engine mounts
60lb injectors
crane 918 or 928 valve springs
manifold plus cross over pipe.

LOL, I have been for a run in a certain LS1 with a T51R. Absolute snooser combination for a street engine. Enough engine capacity to bring the 51 on nice and early and enough flow to make some great power.

Hey thanks for all the comments guys, i cant wait either, just finished pulling out the whole dash and there is soooo much rust in the front windscreen, aaaaaaahhhhhhh.

Might need to reases priorities

Thought i'd add this, the Rb30 is nothing to be ashamed about thats for sure.



Hey people just a little update, pulled the engine and trans out 2day, was pretty straightforward. Pulled the manifold off and thats for sale if anyones interested.

Also pulled the whole dash apart, im suprised the windscreen was still in there by all the rust that was holding it in. Gotta get that fixed asap!
