i use a router where possible man... you can see it in one of the photos

unfortunately sometimes it has to be by hand... i always hand sand it after routering to just to smooth the edges more

hi guys... i can finally show you what i made the dress plates for!!

thats right my idea worked very happy with it too hope you guys like it.. its a bit different (how i like it)

spent over 22 hrs on boot this weekend ok more pics-

cut these down

all done for this

as you open and close the bootlid, the braided lines slide in and out of the dress plates.... these braided lines will carry my power wires, rcas speaker wires for my bootlid amps, plus power for the downlights and will also run my solenoid wire through these too.

hope you guys like it cheers dave

dunno where the ideas come from man?? might be something wrong with me

22hrs- measuring, thinking, cutting, sanding, routering, making templates, blah blah then sometimes doing it again cause it looks sh#t i know it dosent look like 22 hrs but its amazing how much time this kinda stuff eats up.

and glad you guys like it too

ok more pics

made the flush panel for the other amp

and built the flush mount panel for the distribution block

and it fits here

thanks again for all the comments guys and your interest..

dave

thanks guys

first layer of glass should be goin on over my christmas break(hopefully) .... still have to extend the top of the flush trim mould, then build a spider frame to link all the moulds together.

the spider frame hold all the panels square, cause when u put the first layer of glass on, there is alot of force and heat and a straight peice of wood will become a boomerang. thats why all the panels have a spine on them also.

the glassing itself is the easy part, but if your woodwork, framing isnt spot on to begin with your pushing s##t uphill

not going to be working on it this weekend though, am about to pull the head off the motor and get the bad boy running

but there will be more pics coming i promise.

cheers again everyone

looks the goods Dave nice choice on shortening the gear stick 20mm, wasnt sure if you'd thort about this already but if you rebuild a custom console then try connect the center console where the glove box (center) used to be to the sub box... if its possible and not to crammed and small, make a small compartment for cd's and that.. make it nice and flush either way looking good and congrats again on getting it goin.

thanks man... just trying to pretty it up before you guys see it

i wont have the room for the compartment, where the sunglasses holder is, will be where the head unit goes.

wont really need cds anyway, with the computer going in, there will be a cd rom in the dash and you just need to insert the cd then rip it to the hard drive and thats that.

anyways, the shed is callling me, may have some more pics tonight (hopefully with glass on)

hey guys, spent the last 3 days on this centre console and have finally got the first layer of glass on it (1 am)

im quite happy with how it turned out too... it pulled all the lines i wanted so it looks how i imagined it, which is always good.

anyway cause its been 2 days ive got loads of pics for yas-

need it to butt up against the sub box so it flows through to the front of the car

built a surround to go around the handbrake.. dont really like the old vinyl boot (this part took AGES)

soundstream cap which is donating its amp/volt meter for the console

also raised up the electric window switch

part for head unit mount

AND.................. (insert drum roll here)

it is only the first layer. tommorrow morning ill throw another coat on top, then flip it over and start cutting out all the framing, and glassing as i go.

i really cant wait to sit it back in the car and see how it looks should be in primer this weekend (fingers crossed)

cheers guys dave

Impressive skills man! How much extra weight do you reckon you've added with all that wood and stereo gear?
