VL keys locked in car. How do I open my bonnet?

Long story short.
  • My only VL key is in the car.
  • The car was locked by central locking.
  • The battery was disconnected to do some electrical work on the engine.
  • The bonnet was then shut with disconnected battery.

I can't get into my VL because my key is inside. I can't unlock using the central locking key because the battery is disconnected. I don't want to smash a window nor do I know how to break into my car with a close hanger.

The only other way I can think of is opening the bonnet then connecting the battery so central locking will work. I've done a search in this forum about a simular problem. They do help somewhat but I would just like a better discription on what do do.

I've removed the VL grill and see this.

Looking from under.

I was told I need to take of the tensioner and the bonnet should pop open. Can you please explain a little more about where the tensioner is and how I remove it.

Thank you!

(I was also having trouble with my car not starting and asked for help in another thread. It turns out the immobiliser wire shorted out so my starter didn't work. My car starts now, but I locked my keys inside car. I'm such a tool).

Find the wire that runs to the bonnet release and just pull it man.
Should be able to get to it by taking the grill out.

It runs along the inside of that metal housing above the boot release hook you can see in photo 1.

Too hard to explain, it runs along the left obviously, just look for a wire.

I got it open thanks! I used a long socket extension to press against the cable.

use a screwdriver, flat head long one,

undo the spring set up that holds your bonnet down, it will unwind until you can lift your bonnet,
