i heard SHER1F dropped it like its hot, woulda been a sight to see.
was a pretty darn good cruise, couldnt have asked for better weather and everyones attitude was pretty good in regards to letting people in and helping with going the right directions and turnoffs etc. sucks about the couple of cars that got trouble from the law enforcers, hope it wasn't too bad.
big thank you to the organisers, can't wait for the next event, if the cruise ends up being in street commodores magazine it should be a wicked shoot. that hill idea was awesome. and sorry to osk for not finding you in time, by the time i had asked someone who/where u were, u had already gone home, my bad, do u ever come over to redcliffe anymore?

aww no pics of my crappy car, I didn't want to stop on the highway so just kept going down to cooly.

Didn't stay down at d'bar we found a spot at the bottom of the hill and waited there for a while, then drove back up the hill past everyone then went back home.

Good day out and everyone was well behaved, shame about those few cars that got stopped in the middle of the highway.

If I was in the left lane probably would have been me cause the guy jumped right out in front of the guy next to me in the blue calais.

Next time if I still have a VL I will stay for sure.

FYI:

The law on "Alternative Tyres, rims and wheels"

Taken directly - word for word from *CURRENT* QLD Legislation

***START***

Transport Operations (Road Use Management—Vehicle Standards and Safety) Regulation 1999

Schedule 1 Vehicle Standards

Part 4 General safety requirements

44 Alternative tyres, rims and wheels

(1) Tyres and rims fitted to a motor vehicle that is a car, car derivative or off-road passenger vehicle need not comply with section 7(1) or 8(1) if— {Note: Section 7 & 8 refer to 2nd & 3rd Edition ADR's respectively -InsaneVL}
...(a) the combination of tyre and rim—
......(i) has a diameter that is—
.........(A) not more than 15mm more than the diameter specified by the vehicle’s manufacturer; or
.........(B) not more than 26mm less than the diameter specified by the vehicle’s manufacturer; and
......(ii) accords with the specifications contained in—
.........(A) if the vehicle was manufactured before 1 January 1974—1 of the following manuals—
............* the Tyre and Rim Standards Manual of the Tyre and Rim Association of Australia
............* the 1981 Tire and Rim Association Inc. Year Book
............* the British Standard, BS AU 50
............* the Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association
............* the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS-D4202) and (JIS-D4218)
............* the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation Practices (E.T.R.T.O.)
............* the Deutsche Industrie Norm (DIN) 7818
............* the Deutsche Industrie Norm (DIN) 7817; or
.........(B) if the vehicle was manufactured on or after 1 January 1974—Table 2 of ADR 23; and
...(b) the maximum tyre width is—
......(i) for a car or car derivative—not more than 1.3 times the width of the vehicle manufacturer’s widest optional tyre; or
......(ii) for an off-road passenger vehicle fitted with front and rear beam axles—not more than 1.5 times the width of the vehicle manufacturer’s widest
optional tyre; and
...(c) the minimum tyre width is 70% of the width of the widest tyre fitted to the vehicle but not less than the vehicle manufacturer’s narrowest optional tyre.

***FINISH***

What this basically means is that in QLD, you can have whatever size rim you like..... As long as the OVERALL DIAMETER of the rim & tyre combination is not less than 26mm under or 15mm over the LARGEST OPTIONAL rim/tyre combination from the manufacturer (Holden).

If you have a VL Calais - the Tyre Placard reads : 205/65/15 for the tyres. This equates to a diameter of 647.5mm (rim&tyre). For 19's, this means you can have the following tyres:
- 235-265/30/19
- 205-255/35/19
- 205-215/40/19

*this also takes into account the not allowed more than 1.3x width largest optional tyres.

Also note that alot of "low profile" tyres are NOT load rated. You must retain a minimum load rating of what came standard on the vehicle (and speed rating aswell).

If the cop told you that "19's" are illegal for the pure fact that they are 19" rims, the cop is WRONG. Take it to court (if thats the only defect you got).

Theres plenty of tyres with correct load ratings for 19's. My 225/35's are spot on. 20's on the other hand.............

Some mint looking cars there too. Looks like it was a top day. I'd say there was more VLT's there than there is here in Tassie
