Dimo's VL Berlina 5L

Thought i'd put the the car up this section. Possibly open to a bit more feedback.

The car is a 3/87, Berlina 5.0L 304 Holden V8. Verified on the vin calculator.

A quick run down on how i got it, and what ive done, in the past 3 weeks.

-Stock as a rock VL Berlina interior, has 2 rips in drivers seat, which im getting cools auto trim to fix (Got new trim)
-Got rid of the exec sterring wheel, in favor of a momo, 99% identical to Blue meany, except has a red stitch.
-Fitted a Pioneer DEH 6050UB head unit.
-Fitted a kill switch
-Rejetted the quadrajet
- Waiting on delivery of internationals, with Continental E-contact Tyres(235/45-R17)
-Car already fitted witha new ADRAD 3Core rad and new overflow and washer bottle (so they dont look they have poop stains inside)
-Got cluster Fixed (odometer numbers counting wrong, and numbers not lined up) BE warned this is a defect if it happens on your car KNG-30L would know

The To do List,
-Drop it another 1/2inch on the bum.
- Fit the internationals
-Sub+Amp....holding off till i can absolutlely make sure no boot rattles.
-Remove calais badge (to scared incase i strip the paint)
-Dual 2.5inch, twin cat exhaust, with single exit.
-HPC coat inlet manifold and get carb blue printed

can i get a mod to remove this...mouse stuffed up and i didnt add pics to it

heres the pics, stuffed up whilst making the thread.

good stuff have you thought about replacing the rims?
also for the steering wheel, hdt are making repro ones i believe as there were some listed on ebay a few weeks back might be worth making a call to them and seeing if you can get one.

Sounds like it's going to be good. Just finished fitting genie headers, 2.5" high flow meatal core cat and 2.5" cat back with no res, sounds quite good. Twin 2.5 should sound pretty mean. I got the same steering wheel too, only it has white stitching, nice and comfy in the hands.

nah man im not replacing the steering wheel. i love it its the same shape/size look of a meany. all i want is a HDT horn button. i had one but i had to give it away when i sold a genunine VK group a steering wheel that looked like a dog attacked it ....still $500 for it.

As for the rims definately on the "to go list." as im losing my license 3-6 months gives me plenty of time to do the rest of things before i get it back and can finally enjoy it. Internationals are my definite choice now and just getting drivers seat re trimmed.

Just a Little update.

Just a small update, got a set of walkys recently. Gutter rash and dent wise, rims are near perfect. BUT..they have some wierd type of shoddy homejob silver spray on them which was also used inside the rim. So It will be a long haul before i get them how i want them, which is polished finish.

Got my shirt of and pants down..nah just kidding..

Pulled the calais badge off..thank god.
Took the rear venetian out, and started to paint strip that.
And started to paint strip the walky. heres one pic for now.

looking great mate. how are the rims looking?

also as fior a walky interior i picked up a vn le sv wagon interior (front and rear seats) from ebay for 405$

front seat bolstering is the same as walky and the rear is a firmer bench with walky style headrests. my suggestion is keep an eye out on ebay for scheels / walkies and just get rear seats and doortrims trimmed up as fake ones to match. thats what i am doing but that will be a long way down the line. 1 step before a respray, the ultimate finisher.

edit - oh and you can often find other seats on ebay, eg aerotech or even recently some devourish seats (the coulson / ve gts of the vn-s range) and they went for 400 aswell.

cheers SI..

at the current point in time. The walky' rims look like utter crap. Coz they have chunks of paint peeling off em. Waiting for the local workshop to reopen so i can borrow there tyre machine and demount the tyres. Ill post some pics after all the rims have been paint stripped ready for sanding.

Yeah it did mate. His name is will was at john mckenzie smash a few years ago, now is at JL Munro. Thats why the car is in such pristine unmolested condition. I was working on it for the past 3 years, oil changes, alternator, loose flywheel. Basic stuff, lol. Then i persuaded him to sell up.

well the rims finnaly got paint stripped, took me over a week to get em prepped, polished the lips and they are getting high filled tommorow. So i can go in and rub them back down. and get em ready for a coat of MX Grey. Also looking at a new powerplant down the track...hint..its alloy.

I really like how bright the light shines through the satellite switches. It's all too common for them to be dull and lifeless.

Car looks mint mate, just a shame about that driver's seat.
