That boat is pretty sweet, although it has no motor or gearbox.

Last link doesn't work?

ive got a flightcraft ski boat, white/blue pearl, bimini top, cover, 253, dog clutch, retrimmed interior, had it for nearly 7 years now gets a service before every season and has never let us down, considering selling again before this season to get something new!

Sounds great. What sort of price range is that?

When you guys mention clutches, do you literally mean like an automotive clutch? Like driving a manual boat? I've never seen that before.

Yes and no. The idea's the same but most boats would actually have a dog clutch.

dave ill have a think about that one and get back to you, got some more details/pics?
5spdVL want around $7000-8000 for it if we sell, still tossing up the idea.

And Boat clutchs (older style) dog clutch is basically a neutral/drive setup that u bang into gear, soft clutch is a neutral/drive setup but a handbrake style and soft to engage etc. most newers boat have Forward/neutral/reverse but then your talking $$$ which i honestly wouldnt spend on a first boat!

Ah ok, that makes sense. I guess with a boat theres no need for slip, as there's no tyres with grip to overcome.

dave will do, boat is currently stored in albury/wodonga on lake hume so if i sell it would have to be viewed there, which isnt a bad thing at least potential buyers can take it on the water for a test, will have a think about what im going to do and get back to ya bud! tossing up either throwing an injected 215kw motor in it pretty much straight bolt up (was my plan from day 1 but was waiting for the 253 to let go, it hasnt even broken down yet 7 years later lol), or sell and buy something a bit bigger as theres a few more kids in the family now with mine and my sisters etc so its getting a little small for us all, but its hard to let go being in the family for a while and had some good times!

The Boat Thread

I dont remember there ever being a boat thread on here and cbf searching so here it is

I actually wanted some info on getting into cheap boating but we might aswell have a thread so everyone can share what they have/had, tubing, skiieng, fishing, anything boat related

now my mates and i are looking into getting a runaround for some off shore fishing and summer fun (tubing), ive been looking at a couple on ebay but really have no idea what to look out for, i know the transom's are a problem area and need to be looked at carefully but what else is there? I wouldnt mind something around the 15ft size with about a 70hp outboard which should have plenty of grunt for tubing.
Whats the go with outboards aswell? Which makes are reliable which arent?

Any other info u wanna share chuck it up

-there so was one already Marky Mark. Threads merged.

got out on the water in a dingy last saturday managed to snap the propeller shaft and marooned on an island for an hour

pulled the motor apart to get the shaft, which is now obsolete, anyone have anysuggestions of what to do?

If your on a budget i would definitely be looking at something inboard if your not going to be fishing that is. Reason being it's going to be cheaper for parts and there more reliable. Everyone i know who bought an early model out board has had nothing but trouble and end up being really expensive and hard to find parts. I bought a 16ft speed boat with a 350 chev in it for $5200 last summer, came with jackets and a tube as well. Reliable as well and now i am upgrading this year.

Hope this helps, Mark

yer we will be using it for fishing aswell so were gonna need the room but il keep an inboard in mind

dont really wanna be hearing that about outboards tho i spend enough money on my car, mrs and piss
really just want some cheap fun this summer, dont really give a sh1t how it looks as long as it provides enjoyment and is semi-reliable

there was a bertram 15ft on ebay that ended up going for $2750 which looked to be in pretty good nick, i was so tempted but i dont wanna jump into buying something i dont know sh1t about and i cant seem to find any decent boating forums for info gay gay gay
