There WILL be passenger restrictions on P platers that get their license after 01/07/08. No more than one passenger aged between 16-21.

Ha it's probably still worth it, even get S.A plates on your car, now that would be mad. Cops wouldn't bother

So with these new laws, are they saying that if your on your P's still, you can't in anyway whatsoever modifiy your car to increase performance? How about a air filter? Will they ream me for that saying I added .2rwkw to my car's performance?

The people who came up with these laws and those that inforce them (it's an occupation, its still their ****ing choice) probably couldn't tell their lips from penis.

****ing ****smokers, the lot of them.

you need to be a resident in a state for at least 6 months before you can and also must transfer your licence

loll and yes also, no mods at all
the car must be perfectly stock...
which is a fucking joke!

its a bt unclear if that covers ALL P platers, or just the new ones though
nice work making our probationary laws so fuckn confusing, misleading and undefined vicroads...

No way that can cover all P platers, how is it they said it was ok to modify your cars because it was legal, then say take it all off! We don't care how much it cost but we changed our minds!

New drivers will have to cop it sweet but it sounds like.

Also, PM sent

Yeah, problem for me is that my daily will be a VH SL/E V8.

I'm fkd.

But i've had my license for 10 months anyway. I'm thinking that i'll keep the VL off the road untill i'm on my full licence if they won't even let me *** have a intercooler.

It's just a copy and paste of the current NSW Provisional licencing system... it's not that bad apart from the whole no turbos/v8 thing full stop. Nothing wrong with Green Ps... you don't get targetted nearly as much as reds as coppers at least know you didn't get your license last week..

I guess VicRoads would send them to all P platers registered on their database who got their Ps before 01/07/08.

Kyle, you'll be fine. You under the power to weight and capacity to weight ratio. I'm sure a sluggish old VH SL/E will be under on both counts.

going by the current laws, if you got your license after july 1 2007 it says you cant modify your engine, have police actually been enforcing this and has anyone actually been fined or heard of it happening?

so let me get this straight...

this is what ive known all along...ive made sure to understand this all perfectly.

after july 2007 the new Ls (logged 120hours etc) and power restriction laws (no turbo/blower/8+cylinders/mods) came in.

after july this year the new graduating licence system comes in where new p platers (under 21) get stuck on red Ps (P1) for (atleast) one year and if they have a good driving record they "graduate" to green Ps (P2) for 3 years...so after july new p players will have be on their Ps for ATLEAST 4 years. if you're over 21 you go straight to green Ps for 3 years.

i got my Ps in june 07 so im on for 3 years with reds and im free to drive my supercharged calais. so now all they are doing is sending current (pre-july08) p platers green Ps so that its easier to determine new P1 drivers (licenced after july08) from current p platers. (licenced before july08)

despite green Ps being ugly, it makes perfect sense for us current p platers to get new green Ps so cops know we got our licence BEFORE july08. since new drivers (after july08) will be on red Ps (P1) we are given greens to seperate new p platers from older p platers.

but it would have made more sense, logically and financially, to just give NEW p platers (after july08) the green Ps for one year so that the thousands of current p platers can stay on reds until we qualify for our full licence. no-one is even on green Ps yet so isnt it easier to just give new drivers the greens (and graduate to reds after one year+good record) and leave the old p platers on reds? its just a total waste of time and money getting current p platers just to swap the colour of their plates.

but for those of us who will be forced to swap to greens, thats all that will be happening. that doesnt mean all the new laws (incl. power laws post-july07) will apply to us. i got my Ps before july07 so even though ill have to swap to green Ps after this coming july that doesnt mean im no longer allowed to drive my supercharged calais. all that is changing is the colour of our Ps, whatever laws currently applying to you stay the same after july.

wouldnt it just be easier to give a new unfamiliar colour plate to new unfamiliar drivers and leave the old drivers on the old colour. stupid total unnecessary waste of time and money. what bunch of idiots got paid to come up with this brilliant idea?
