They're not cheap, from memory they're around $80 for a kit that does all four doors.
Bolts are a good cheap alternative - thats whats holding my doors on at the mo. They fit pretty tightly in the hinges and can be removed in seconds - as opposed to a few hours for the pins! (I stole the idea from the NZV8 touring cars)
As my car is waiting to go to the paint shop the bolts are an ideal solution as the doors need to come on and off quickly and easily. Not sure whether I will change to the pins or not. The bolts do a bloody good job and only cost me $8.00!

I think the pins in my front passenger door are a bit rusty cause it makes this horrible noise when it's opened just past half way. And yeah my Dad was given the same price when he looked at getting new ones for his, we scrounged around and got enough out of secondhand doors and stuff though.

Iron tusk - try taking the little rubber caps off of the top of the hinge and squirt some oil down them. WD40 will probably do the trick, but something like 3in1 would be better. That should help stop the noise!

NZ_BT1 - bite me! Haha. $49 isn't too bad, cheaper than R.S. At the moment bolts do just fine as the doors need to come on and off for painting and transportation. Right now that $50 is going towards new springs!

NZ_VL com - no, the guards don't need to come off. But removing the doors is quite probably the sh1ttest and most frustrating job you can do on a VL. If the cars not a keeper, grind the hinges off. If not (you could do a search - there are plenty of threads - but I'll tell ya to make it easy!) you really need to buy this tool: http://www.abbeypowertools.co.uk/web...54585_dprk.jpg
They are around $50. I got mine from Sulco. Without it the task is near impossible. After removing four doors my tool is rooted You may get lucky, but chances are the pins are well and truly seized in place and very stubborn. Probably took me an hour per door over a couple of days. The lowest pin is the hardest as there is very little room to work or swing a hammer. Be prepared for chipped paint.
*Pins can only be removed one way. Top ones goes down, bottom ones go up
*Remove top plugs on all hinges. Fill with oil. Leave to soak in for 24 hours.
*If you don't wanna damage your paint, try masking up the areas around the hinges with a few layers of thick tape.
*After 24 hours, remove lower plugs so that you can slide rod thru centre.
*Try removing lower pins first as they are hardest and most frustrating, thread the rod thru the centre of pin, using a hammer, smash the fu*k out of the handle, once you have moved the pin slightly it should be easy...
*For the top pins cut a piece of 4x2 that is the same height of the bottom of the rod when it is threaded through the top hinge. You can now rest the handle of the tool on this while you smash this. This helps stop the shockwaves going thru your hands.
*Some people have used gas torches to heat the hinge and make the job easier, apparently this works quite well. I haven't tried it, so can't comment. Not too kind on the paint tho.

Yeah I don't like the idea of taking fire to my car! Getting the pins back in isn't too fun either, you need another person to hold the door up while you take them out/put them in. You really can murder those rods if the pins are stiff huh.

Nice work on the diff. I did the same to mine. Looked like a POS before I started. Just a pity no-one gets to see it!
Sounds like you got lucky with your door pins. I've read previous threads on removing them and they either come out easy, or they will give you grief. Typical that mine were the latter.
