Thanks man saved me from epic fail big time, I put it in that Sunday night! Third starter motor lucky!! It's a pain to get that top bolt with my plenum though so hopefully this one lasts for a while!!

as some of you already know (lol)

Car ran into a couple of problems

Problem 1: The cams have not been dialed in properly it seems, the car is not making as much power as it should. I rang the workshop that built the motor to confirm this so looks like I'm going to need adj cam gears and get it dialed properly.

Problem 2: Wouldn't hold 20psi, trailed of to 15 after 4000ish rpm. Had a soft wastegate spring in so went to change it and I snapped one of the v-band clamp bolts (wtf), not only that, but with both clamps off the wastegate would not come free, even belting it with a rubber mallet.

so looks like it's back to the drawing board at this stage. will have a big weekend finishing the car off completely then I should have the cams dialed in and back on the dyno next Friday.

Car made 240hp on 6psi and 340hp on the 15psi run. It sounded awesome and held 340ish hp from about 4k right through to redline lol so it needs some more love.

all good man... you cant expect everything to go smooth... in my experience this does not happer... building a motor/car and expecting things to turn out how they are in your head is like reading Alice in wonderland and believing it...

haha chris,we both fail'd tday ...we got the same prob with our auto,myne only made 327rwhp,n we were like wtf, so mik rang paul n gonzo n they came down n pulled my box out (haha), its sumthing simple to do with the rear off the autos,paul rekons hell have it dun tmoro then tunies friday .. they rekon thats the cause of ur drama's also ... hopefully she's dun by the time i get bak

sounds good, powerwise...badluck on the other side of stuff

i was making that same power at 18-19psi (350-360)... with my crappy sohc RAJAB rb30, and it was through my old 3spd and the same turbo (mind you i had a standard cat and...altho not that much of a problem; a standard exhaust manifold)

kinda sucks having to go back and forward ay EVL :P if only these little problems didnt keep appearing, ohwell. hope i dont get the same problems, ill probably be getting mick to do most of the work on my car anyways (putting the gear together etc)...so he will probably make sure nothing like this happens :/

I can't understand how the trans can absorb that much hp without blowing its guts all over the dyno lol. I'm actually hoping that the gearbox is the only thing wrong.

I'll bail up keasy tomorrow and suss this gearbox out once (or seventh) and for all.

Genki - what do I expect? I expect a 450kw gearbox to withstand >200hp.

just had a good drive of it home from work and all I can say is good lord, 20psi where have you been all my life :O it really brings the spool to life haha

Auto seems to be ok. Hit the dyno again today and all of a sudden the pos won't boost. Max we can get out of it is 15psi on a 14psi spring and it's all over the shop. We were scratching our heads for ages, no boost leaks, e-boost & connections are fine, bov not leaking, boost lines to solenoid are all good. Thinking it's the wastegate maybe a damaged diaphragm... Don't suppose anybody has a 48mm pro-gate I can borrow for half a day to test? We are out of ideas, I'm out of patience.
