Tried the usuals, nothing doing so far except eagle autos but not sure on them, last yr there was bulk around was super keen on an e-rod one with the ecu, loom, sensors and cats save me some mucking around.

Will keep an ear to the ground i guess, really just want a brand new ls3 sitting in my games room for a little while

read the news lol?

$2.5M worth of LS blocks and auto/manual transmissons stolen from GMH, thats what flooded the market for a little while. likely to be going up in price slightly now.

looking forwards to what comes of this, shame the plates wont be relevant any more.

So u find one and the problem is the distance to pick it up, yet uv looked for how long and found nothing..... Pick the phone up, make an offer and take the 90min drive there and pick the motor up! It aint actually that far.

lol Mo, I'd hope that you would know that I'm not one to mess around. I'll get one as soon as it's the one i want - what's to say this one wasn't stolen? if i'm going to pay 7.5k for a motor i'll buy it from someone whom i trust given the current affairs?

Sure it won't be too long before this all blows over and i can scoop one up from holmart/holden/etc and i'll finally have my games room ornament.

Lol cause there are plenty of street driven rbs that can easily make more power than ls's

Pulled the dirty 30 out tonight to make way for the possibly dirtier 8

Craned it out under candlelit ambiance - how romantic

Couple of clues as to why it may have stopped making power will be tearing the head off tomorrow for a looksee - last time i drove this car was at powercruise 2010 i think by the end of the weekend it was filling up catch cans every 15 mins and well down on power at high rpm's will be interesting to see what caused it. Not sure what I'm going to do with this motor yet.

Exh port #5

tough crowd lol

For those playing at home here are the results of the tear down.

The O-Ringed block looks to have damaged the gasket and caused a coolant leak over time. It's interesting to note that the o-ring on the #5 cyl also appears to be damaged in this area. 2 of the valves are corroded as a result.
I wasn't expecting to find this, we tore it down mainly to find the reason for the excessive blow-by and power loss. Some of the pistons seem to be excessively loose and the bores are a bit glazed. It's looking like excessive fuel could be the culprit potentially burning out the rings.

Not sure of the future of the block at this stage. If it returns as anything it will certainly have a 26 head on it and some high compression duties.

That's enough about RB's for a while though! Picking up a T56 this afternoon. I've also ordered mounts for the engine and gearbox. Sorting out an LS1 Holden sump with trap door baffling really just need to decide on starter conversion and I'm in business.

Cyl #5 Coolant leak-in. Corroded valves

O-ring damage visible here

Glazed bores and slappy pistons! Time for another rebuild one day

Caibs - Cheers mate, yep will see majority street duties so will stay fairly stock.

Grunter - I wanted a motor that was simple and easy to make hp without pushing too many boundaries. Hoping to spend a bit of cash now and look after it like a "normal" car later rather than all the stress when it was 25/30. Too much custom stuff and trial and error meant less time actually enjoying it.
