i know what he means about the attention, i had a mockup walky turbo for a bit, and the po-po loved me!!!
at this point in my life id probably take a bt1 over a walky as well (if it was white) not interested in yellow ones personally!

a walky would be awesome to own but you cant drive it all that often and cant leave it anywhere for the fear of someone taking it.

i reckon that cb is an aftermarket item dude, probably owned by some country bumpkin or truckie or maybe a labourer. as far as i know all bt1s were sold off minus lights, cb radios, etc.

My BT1 was fitted with LW5 suspension from factory had UHF radio which i sourced and refiited using all original holes. Has original police stock number and roof number printed on rear vision mirror. Was also fitted with an external digital speedo which i'm trying to source.

bt1's are overrated thrashed pig chariots, do you people pay extra for these, just wondering? i mean so far all i can see them having is disk brakes all round, sump guard, long range tank,cb radio and no power steering.I don't do long trips, talk to truckies or 4wd in my vl so disk brakes are the only huge advantage.please enlighten me

I'm so glad that not everyone likes BT1's, it means less buyers for good ones that come up

and why do we have to 'explain' ?

you don't like them , we don't care why, just leave our BT1 thread if you don't like them

some cars have track race history, BT1's have a true road race history

just the same as if a car was owned by a famous personality BT1's have their own 'colourful' history

The yellow BT1 found under the carport has the Vic Police maintenance sticker on its sunvisor

Owner is slowly getting to work on the car, keeping it 100% orig and importantly 100% untouched

What's this upgraded wiring some people have mentioned?

and didn't they come with 15x7 rims not 15x6?

I dunno if you would call it upgraded rather there's just more of it!

Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the extra wiring was for sirens, light bars, CB radios etc...

heavier gauge from the battery i think and/or possibly bigger alternator to enable lots of the things to be powered but i'm not certain about that

15x6 rims only back then, 15 x 7 didn't become available until the 2000's

BTW: just got a phone call from Victoria and it appears 2 more Vict BT1's exist with that maintenance sticker intact

yeah I had two BT1 5 litres (VH/VP) and I'm pretty certain they both had 85 amp alternators. I would think this is the norm given the extra gear they all had.

Went for a cruise last night with another country pack BT1, found out it was 1 car behind mine on the production line. Both are RTA cars.
Both were fitted out identical, his still had vic roads service sticker on the windscreen.
And no the owner is never selling it.
