Don't forget that NSW and Victorian cars had quite different fitouts, Vic cars may not of had CB's fitted

I bought a book a while back that was written by a Lawyer that I had represent me years and years back.
Turns out he used to be a copper and while reading the book I came across a section where he was talking about driving the yellow highway patrol cars.
He loved them and was saying about how quick they were etc, chasing speeders down easily.
He even said about one time where he chased this chick who was flying. Turned out it was his mum and when he finally caught upto her and pulled her over, she just told him o piss off and drove off

I remember now, too hard to tell, can barely see the radio at all

I had the radio techs at work look at my orig BT1 photos and they identified and then sourced or helped me get suitable radios: great guys, really helpful and knowledgeable

don't forget you're in Melb and they may not have used CB's at all down there, whereas lots of NSW HWP cars did have them

NSW cars generally seemed to get a more comprehensive fitout

It'll be interesting to see how they're regarded in the next 20 years Russ.

From what I can work out from all the Holden spec sheets over the years the VL Turbo was the fastest accelerating Holden and had the highest top speed of any Holden up to 1988. This takes into account all those big engined Monaro's, the XU-1, L34 and A9X (in factory spec). This does not include any of the many HDT variants, which I don't rate as "factory".

With no race history, except for killing them in Group E back then, my guess is they'll just fade away. Most people off the street still don't realise it's not a Holden engine ffs !

My BT1 was from QLD have books to!!! Turbo 5 speed colour is yellow blaze. Were QLD BT1's all yellow? Cause when i got mine re-sprayed the bumpers were yellow but now its on silver bumpers. Gota love yellow BT1's just for there sheer presences on the road you just have to look at them!!!

Somewhere mate, I'll try and get a decent one that shows the colour but it's hard to pick up in photos.

It can look very blue in some light and in others almost a dark metallic grey...

EDIT:

Pretty dodgy photo from my phone but you get the idea...

the Walky cornered magically but was too noisy and got way too much attention for my liking

kids would give you the thumbs up or young guys hanging out of cars taking pics of it as you drove past, i prefer subtle cars

So yeah i still prefer a good BT1
