I had a genuine Sydney BT1, was like moroon/burgandy. with dark silver bumpers.

1988 SL Turbo, auto, sump guard, a/c, 83L tank, no p/s, f+r ash trays, calais interior light, good dash, trans cooler. thats all I remember.

even had a cb. holes everywhere, in the doors for batons aparently.

Sump guard, Upgraded wiring, 4wds, 15" silver painted rims with centre caps, calais interior light, front door map/book holders, Ashtrays front and rear, Has 50lr fuel tank, BT1 instrument cluster, Pulled 2 or so meters of areial cable out, Holes under glovebox and in sunglasses holder.

No reason why not.
BT1 is just an option pack.
Just I dont think the goverment would fork out for one and why would Jo average order his Turbo Calais with a police pack?

Im starting to think the whole piont of the BT1 has been lost.
The best part of a BT1 is that it was originaly a highway patrol car ( the fastes car the cops had) not a town patrol or a D car or a general puplic car with a police pack.
But the genuine artical that saw action.
Now in the hands of public,no longer used to enforce the law but to brake the law. (THATS THE COOL PART).

My VLCT also has a sump bash plate, but I highly doubt in any way it was used by the police. Why would the state pay extra so the cops could drive a calais? You don't see VY Calais getting around with cop stickers all over them, only VY SS really.

Having said that,

In no way, shape, or form is a BT-1 a 1980's muscle car, and i highly doubt that it ever will be one.

So true, Id take a mint VLCT over a BT-1 that has no power steering or aircon anyday.

Only reason I like the BT-1's I see is because they're absynith yellow, and that looks hot on a S/L. Not because of any other reason.

The whole idea of BT1 and 9C1 packs was to option base model cars up to the necessary specs so no there would be no such thing as a Calais BT1

sump guards were available on all VLs then, so many were fitted with them from the factory

and yes all turbo VL's came standard with some sort of 15" rims but the BT1 pack meant specifically 15 " silver painted rims with centre caps

IMHO the VL turbo was an '80's muscle car esp considering the power it had compared to what else was available then incl the accel and top speeds it had. Why else would it have got a special article in Wheels incl shots of speedo

many BT1's have damaged strut towers from police taking median strips too hard causing the tops of them to pop out a bit

locate your broadcast sheet from under the carpet and you'll learn a lot about the car you have. If you do make sure you take a photocopy to study/keep and return the sheet to its orig location

another feature is the brown wheelbrace exclusive to BT1's

and lumbar adjustment on the drivers seat

Could be any state really but I'll try to locate a form for you that can help you find out if you wish

any Holden Commodore police vehicle back then (incl VL, VN etc etc) was BT1 pack, it didn't have to be a HWP car, could be detective/dog squad/undercover/GD's anything

Many country HWP BT1 turbos were fitted with CB's to monitor truckies etc

I've fitted one to mine as it more than likely had one when it was in service at Maitland
