Yer man, if was a R1 i wouldnt of bothered even when seen was R6 i thought twice but gave it a go, hehe
Here is a shot of the turbo sitting in engine bay. I had to move the housings apart to make it sit for the pics, but measured it up and there is a good couple cm each side when its sitting correctly. The pic is just giving an idea of how big it is in the engine bay... i love it Cant wait to hear it spool ....
Remember that fuse box and all the wiring is now gone. There is nothing on the passengers side of the engine bay. Next on the list over next couple of weeks is batery in boot (i need the weight in the rear for sure!) and remove over flow and washer bottle.

Its not a factory Turbo. I thought i was but was wrong .... Done some number crunching and was very dissapointed. Yes should of done it first but i was as excited as a school boy getting my new car so yer ......
Umm Brett as far as a price I really dont have one. I wont take any less than $12000 but I was looking at fitting the turbo and some larger injectors to bring it up to the 320rwkw mark. Ill see what happens at that stage. If there are offers ill consider them. If not, as long as we can afford this wedding ill prob keep it.
Im curious to know what people opinion is on this to.
After finding out it wasnt an original turbo I came up with the selling idea for that very reason. I guess I really want to be able to say its a turbo .. not just a bodgey job. I know that everything (minus brake master cylinder) has been well and truely exceded past factory specs, but it will always be a "converted CT" ..... does it mater ?

I think it purely depends on the buyer. I'm of your school of thought, i'd never buy one that wasn't factory turbo although that's for nothing more than the reason you stated above (just 'knowing' it's an original ct means alot to me), the majority of people i'm sure wouldn't care though. 12,000+ doesn't seem to far fetched although people are probably going to want some proof as to it being a 25/30 and not just a straight 25? I'm not sure how you'd go about this? Perhaps show people who come to look at it the engine number?

...or you could just not sell it Then you wouldn't have to worry about any of this!

For sure Kane.... id be more than happy to pop up the engine number. your right. Just knowing it was a Calais Turbo means a lot. Oh well guess at the moment ill have to live with what it is. I made sure i searched high and low for the number when I was under doing the clutch. If anyone is serious, let me know. Im ceartinly not going to put a thread up or anything like that. Thought id just add it to my sig on here. I guess if its meant to be its meant to be

I know its a 25/30 by the big "RB30" stamped on the side of the block.

Sure its not genuine, but its a fantastic car that goes better than a lot thats around.

hey man, dont worry about it not bein an original CT, youve built an awesome car here, i have an original CT, but really, it means f*ck all to me being an original CT, i mean, if u have a CT then u have a CT wether its original or not, if you love your car, then it shouldnt matter. just my opinion anyway, but if u can afford to keep it then keep it.

I wouldnt get too caught up with the word 'factory'. My car started life as a six cylinder... its still a two door monaro with a 500hp chev.
Its not like an old collector is going to walk in and instantly devalue your calais because it didnt come factory with a snail on the side... its a modified VL calais... come on. It is what it is and you cant change it - enjoy it. Most of the original turbo's are flogged out. Not only the engine but the whole driveline, rubbers, bushes, doors etc.

Star fire? This is pre star fire buddy.

Atleast with your VL theres not a huge money difference between what it came with. A GTS V8 is worth probably around 8-10k more than an LS 6 cylinder from the factory. Matching numbers? Eek... lots more!
