Upgrading injectors

Guys got a quick question and I'm hoping nightmare knows abit about this. I want to upgrade my injectors but not sure whether to get GTR ones or is there something else. And when i do upgrade, can I just get my turbo ecu remapped or do i need a whole new computer. Don't want an aftermarket ecu cause if i get defected i will have to keep swapping them over and changing the settings for regency. I saw in the trader they remap your ecu at Turbo Tune, will this be enough to not go aftermarket??

I doubt very much Turbo Tune have the software required to remap the VL ECU, I could be wrong.....the cost to remap is very expensive for what you get, a Delco ECU (VN onwards) will cost anywhere from $600-$900 to remap from what ive seen....everytime you make a change to something (more boost etc) it will need a remap....$$$$!

ring turbo tune see wat they can do... alot of people dont have a good opinion of that place tho so be warned.

otherwise yer, aftermarket ecu is your only other option. You could get a plug and play type like levi has just, haltech something a rather, plugs into ur standard loom, so if u get defected u can just plug the standard ecu back in (and change ur injectors back to standard)

so aftermarket injectors aren't even legal? Would regency even be able to pick that. And when and if i do go aftermarket ecu do i have to stuff around with any of the settings when i plug the standard one back in, like is it a big head f*ck or pretty simple

i said change ur injectors back to standard, because the standard ecu wont run GTR injectors properly at all. And as far as i know, the haltech computers dont lose there tune when they are taken out. But u should double check everything im saying, just incase i have been misinformed.

would prolly be a good idea to get a tune when changing the computers back and forth just to be safe tho.

get a microtech with the hand held screen then lear how to do some basic tunning yourself (i would recommend leaving the serious tuning to a pro) but if you get a fair idea what your doing you should be able to get two maps tuned into the ecu one for running standard injectors and one for running big injectors.

Your best bet is not to get defected lol

Running the Microtech itself is still a defect though even with stock injectors so that would defeat the purpose?

If you dont wanna risk getting defected ever, sell the VL and go buy a ricebox with EVO kit or somethin, no point stressing about something that hasnt and might not even happen....
I like the sound of the plugin Haltech though.

hehe my haltech wasnt bought new as a "plug and play" ryan. I just bought the computer second hand with loom already made up so it is now a "plug and play" for me

isnt there a bloke (in sa) who can gut a vl ecu, put an aftermarket one (microtech irrc), inside the box, wire up the plug to fit the vl loom...??

probably pretty costly, but if it saves you having to do it over and over again.. worth it maybe?

you probably could make some kind of loom adapter like the skylines if you had enough time.

Regency will pick hidden ECUs and all the rest of it, just simply unplugging a dummy Airflow meter is a give away as the cars idle wont change....

wire up the plug to the afm to trigger a switch in the ecu to retard the base idle, or the fuel load, or something bugger regency

The problem with tuning the stock ecu, apart from the fact is that it is expensive,
is the fact they don't have enough tuning resolution to tune a bigger gtr type injector, they use those mercedes injectors, so you are limited to 210rwkw-maybe 220rwkw max anyway in a manual car with a reprogrammed ecu from what i have seen over the yrs.

Vn- delco onwards are excellent computers with a wide tuning scope.
cheers
darren

if you get someone to make the loom properly then its just a matter of unplugging the microtech loom and feeding the stock one back in, 45min job

worry bout the defect later? Buy a different car? WTF?!? And let them win. I didn't want get a VL to run away from the problems lol. I was thinking of upgrading the ECU by getting it rechipped and leaving the stock injectors in maybe getting them chemically cleaned andgetting one of those bosch910 or the walbro fuel pumps or is this defeating the purpose of better flow?

Throw a few extra injectors on it triggered off a Hobbs pressure switch, feels like secondaries opening on a carby car when they fire...Lol.

your not letting "them" win. If you want a legal car then your gonna need engineers reports. if you dont drive like a d!ck then you wont have any hassles from the police.

For the record i don't drive like a ****. You might not be meaning that NTMID 8 but just saying :P I drive like a nana, I am attracting the wrong sex instead getting the boys in blue rather than the girls in mini skirts. Least I got a engineers report on the 18s and I heard you can get a engineers report on a dual port BOV. One WRX got his engineered. News to me...

Don't know they had a full story in hot 4s a while ago but the bloke was from melb anyway. I definitely wanna ask around cause if you can in SA that would be sweet! This is the blow off valve he got engineered anyway the first one at the top of the page ---->http://www.gfb.com.au/index.php?pare...ion=stealth_fx
