if anyone is wondering why i did this it is because of the declining quality of fuel and not knowing what your gonna get, so by getting it tuned on this i can run just about anything and not break. but thats not say im gonna see what she does with quality fuel

The E10 at each servo will differ heaps. Also depends what ECU you have because some have ethanol content sensors which is handy.

though i have a sneeking suspicion that the E10 would be shifted up the ladder
if you back to backed it against the lower grades...

Thought E10 was the equivalent to 95 premium, as it's often allowed as a replacement for OEM cars that require premium from factory.

Since basic E10 is 91RON mixed with 10% Ethanol giving it a RON of 93-94 wouldn't it be > than 91RON?

avgas is 110 and e10 may use ethanol to bump the octane but because its diluted into fuel its burn changes and as a result it is crap in forced induction cars with high comp or high boost because you cant pump in more timing to make more power because it will ping but a longer burning fuel ie higher octane-more timing-more boost-more power so it is bottom of the barrel crap then 91>95>98 bla bla bla

all the avgas sold here has been 100 octane, and motec did the test on a evo, 98 E10 vs avgas
and 98 E10 came out on top

we don't have 98 E10 in NSW. some of our dirty servo's put Ethanol in the premium 95. E10 fuel here are based on standard ULP which renders it not even good enough to start a mower.

fair enough...
We install multiple tunes in the standard VL ECU's so you can get the most out of what ever fuel you fill up on. Most guys just want 2 but 3 or 4 is not unreasonable just takes more time & cost to produce the tunes.

BTW, I found this a few years back. Some of the bigbang fuels are really not that great per volume. Sydney to Melbourne on 320+Ltres.. LOL
Fuel Energy-kJ per KG & Octane

Nitro 11.3/has no octane rating
Methanol 19.7/104.5
Ethanol 26.8/104.2
E85 29.2/101.6
Benzene 40.2/115
Toluene 40.6/114.5
ULP 42.7/93-98
Diesel 42.5/25
LPG 46.1/110
Hydrogen 120/130

If there's a better quality fuel around why wouldn't you put that in and get the most out of it rather than choose the poorest octane fuel? Even if you throw 98 in it you're not going to get increased power with your E10 tune.
I would have thought most people would tune on a good quality 98 octane fuel as it's reputable and available. You could be missing 30hp without compromising the engine.
